They turned in about one hundred studies to claim that aspartame is safe. On March 5, the first FDA scientist reports that the safety data sheet to get aspartame and stated that the information was incorrect. To get aspartame to be secure, more evaluation needed to be ran. May 1974, Searle Company had to go to court to show their data to be true.
