Black girls are placed in a struggle since slavery when they had been brought to the Western world to be utilized as laborers to boost capitalism in America. Their struggle consisted of not just being oppressed as a Black, but also as a female. Since that time Black women have struggled for equal chance , socially, and economically. Black women do not feel that they need to be restricted by their sex, class, or race due to society demanding them to have a subordinate role for a wife, caretaker, and cook. Slavery is were the struggle was introduced and it continues to be a struggle Black women face today. But during the Black women struggle women have consistently continued to conserve and to still be able to become revolutionary in their actions for the betterment of Black people. During the Civil Rights movement Black girls were faced with not only being Black, but also being a girls. A black lady had been living as a minority in a minority, what society calls for a double threat. And society has been expecting them to choose a battle claiming they must decide to be Dark and a lady or a Woman and black. They canвЂ™t assert both. Black women felt like they were never recognized as a girl given society couldnвЂ™t get passed their race of these being Black. So during the Civil Rights movement was girls saw fit for change; to talk about their rights alongside the rights whatsoever. Black women in the battle didn't allow their plight define them. More importantly because of their battle they were able to define themselves as the girls they are today. Black women during the Civil Rights struggle were revolutionary in their service .
