Our Excessive Dependence on Technology Today, virtually every company owns computers. At least 900,000 businesses use the net. Some, like Amazon.com, are run only online. If the internet were to shut down, then a great deal of people are without jobs. We have gradually become increasingly reliant on technology. As a result, we've become poorer. In regard to Darwin's "just the strongest survive" individuals of twenty years ago were far superior to the folks of today due to their non-dependence on computers. To begin with, there's the obvious decline in physical fitness. As an example, in Vermont, the proportion of pupils who participate in three or more hours of physical activity per week has fallen from 70 percent to 64% in just two decades. Fewer than half of all pupils participate in a muscle recovery action, such as weightlifting. And although it requires 150-200 minutes per week to truly develop physical fitness, less than 25 percent of all students participate in physical exercise classes five days a week.
