The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin " The Story of an Hour " by Kate Chopin is really a young girl with a critical heart disease which finds out her husband has been murdered. She responds very different to this news afterward a wife would react with their husband's departure. She loves her husband but is not happy with her life. Following the terrible news, she envisions her entire life as being fuller. She sees the severity of her heart disease, but prays that she will now live longer. This story is more about her realization of her presence and her beginning to cope with her dieing rather than being entirely around her husband dieing. When her friends and family tell Mrs. Mallard of those tragic news they attempt to inform her as gently as possible because they know she has a very serious heart condition. She finds that her husband has been murdered, but responds in a strange and unusual way. She doesn't give herself time to think upon the topic, but instantly begins sobbing because that was the response she thought she should give. She's grieving, but is come with an immense sadness. Chopin writes; " she didn't hear the story as many women have heard the exact same&she wept at once" (paragraph 3). This wasn't a reaction of just emotions, but also of how she thought she should respond in front of her family members and friends. After locking her self at the privacy of her bedroom she begins to realize things that one wouldn't think of after a loved one passed away. " She could see from the open square before her house the tops of trees which were all aquiver with the new spring life (paragraph 5)."
