How Psychologists Attempt to Describe the Origins of Prejudice Ethnocentrism is the tendency to suppose that a person's culture or way of life is superior to others. Prejudice is a negative attitude toward an entire group of individuals. Discrimination is behavior that excludes all members of a group from particular rights, opportunities or privileges.
