Investigating a Element Which Affects the speed of Decent of a Parachute Aim- to research one variable that affects the rate of decent of a parachute. Plan there are lots of factors which affect the rate of adequate of a parachute, a number of these are: The weight of the item on the end of a parachute, the burden of the parachute, the duration of the strings on the close of the parachute, the surface area of the parachute, and also the shape of the parachute. As we were only instructed to research one of the factors listed above we chose to find out the way the surface area of a parachute affects it's fall.This is how we are going to execute our experiment: Primarily we will cut out 8 differently sized parachutes from a black binliner. The parachutes will probably be sized 25cm (5cm 5cm), 100cm (10cm 10cm), 225cm (15cm 15cm), 400cm (20cm 20cm), 625cm (25cm 25cm), 900cm (30cm 30cm), 1225cm (35cm 35cm), 1600cm (40cm 40cm).) These sizes are evenly spaced since when I return to plot my own results using a chart they'll be alot easier to browse and hopefully a blueprint will look. Secondly we'll cut out some lengths of series. 32 lengths of string will be required in most (one for each corner of each parachute). Each one of the pieces of chain should be the same span (40cm) because any version in length could affect the outcomes as longer strings could make the plasticine touch the earth before shorter ones, and whether the strings a single parachute were all different the parachute will be hauled down in an wierd shape which might also influence the outcome.
