In American politics, many methods exist that greatly damage the American public. Among these dangerous practices, referred to as gerrymandering, occurs in every state nearly. While some declare that the practice helps America, the truth is gerrymandering harms American security and democracy. Gerrymandering impacts society greatly, and must become unlawful to insure fair representation, the democratic processes in the us continues, and America continues to thrive. When gerrymandering happens, a political party draws the boundaries of an electoral district in a manner that helps their party earn elections over the various other parties. For example, if a Republican handles a state, and it appears just like the party will eventually lose a seat later on, the Republicans will pull the district in a genuine way to exclude as much Democratic voters as feasible. Perhaps they will do that by detatching a democratic stronghold in one district and adding it to some other district which will either easily go Republican or could have a Democratic representative regardless of what happens. Before 1964, almost all party could attract districts at all they wanted to, and chaos ensued. As a result, in 1964, the U.S Supreme Courtroom legislated that the districts “had to contain equivalent population, and become as compact as feasible” (“Gerrymandering”). Every a decade the U.S. problems a census to look for the population of every state. After this, each constant state receives their share of the 435 seats, and then the constant state gets to break the populace into the corresponding quantity of districts.
