The book shows the significance of religion, even if this religion is "shameless lies". It also shows how folks convince themselves that things are better then they really are. I read this novel due to a promise I made to my father. I am glad I made that assurance; I only read a delightfully funny and deep tale concerning the end of Earth. The book starts with a writer named John researching for his book about the day the atomic bomb had been dropped. He talks with Newt, son of Dr. Felix Hoenikker, the creator of the nuclear bomb. He then head to Illium, the city at which the Hoenikkers grew up, and now there that he sees of ice-nine, one splinter of which could freeze all the seas of the world. John soon discovers that Frank, another son of Felix, is to get a little island named San Lorenzo. He goes there to research more because of his publication. On the plane he matches Newt in individual, who turns out to be a midget, along with the Crosbys, a married couple. John reads a book the Crosbys provide him about the plane all about the religion of Bokononism and it's customs. 1 custom is Bokomaru, touching the souls of feet together to grow closer.
