To be seen and not heard; a quality shared with the inanimate object, and the conventional woman. Society has conformed girls into accessories, and therefore, literature has shown suit. Inherent in this ideology, are lots of foundation traits attributed to women. Arthur Miller's The Crucible exploits these traditional feminine traits to assist the female personality in her role of complimenting the male. When observing something from another perspective it can take on a completely new meaning. Studying novels from different lenses can appear as if you're reading a different job than the author intended. A feminist lens permits the reader to look past apparent topics in the publication for the implicit or hidden misogyny within. This lens "examines, interprets, and seeks to remedy the marginalization of women through a crucial response to literature, in the bigger context of a male-dominated literary establishment."
