This reflection indentifies what I've learnt about confidentiality and privacy, patient’s right to find out about their health condition health insurance and empathic response in Nursing Occupation. Nursing as a caring occupation needs communicating receptively, empathy, trust and respect to determine and maintain a solid therapeutic relationship with the individual and the grouped family members. I will reference a substantial experience I had as students nurse within my clinical practice in the obstetric and gynaecology unit of a healthcare facility I been trained in my country. Confidentiality will be maintained all the time. Over my placement, I was assigned Mrs M who was simply identified as having Gestational Trophoblastic Disease (GTD). Within my break period, I walked with my colleague through the hallway to the cafeteria and we had been engaged in a conversation about my patient’s analysis and the prognosis. She was told by me that based on the discussion the doctor had with the nursing team, she had minimal likelihood of survival from the condition. Unknown to us, the patient’s child was pursuing us at the relative back. When my break period was over, I returned to the unit to be sure of my patient. On addressing her bed aspect, I notice she was crying therefore i tried to gaming console her and understand why she was crying. She asked me why nobody informed her about her illness knowing it had been serious and will result in loss of life. She asked why we lied to her. My initial thought when I met her crying was that she was in a serious pain, however when she asked the relevant issue; I knew that the son informed her in what he overheard me discussing with my colleague in the hallway.
