Things Fall Apart Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart describes the defects and struggles of a proud man's tragic life. The major character Okonkwo is a powerful and proud warrior with great standing in the village of Umofia. But he's a guy that fights with the fear of failure and uncontrollable anger. Okonkwo's motives, ways of acting and behaviour in crisis prevent him from attaining what he desires, resulting in his self-destruction. Okonkwo is motivated because of his desire of riches and recognition. The prosperity of a person in Umofia is step by yams, size of their farm and number of wives. Okonkwo did not inherit any land or yams to begin building a farm.
