The Dehumanization of Gregor in The Metamorphosis From the novella The Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka, the primary character Gregor experiences a physical transformation from individual to bug. Despite this change in look, he keeps his human brain as insect trends slowly take over his day to day behavior. He keeps his thoughtless state of mind, memories, and inner dialogue throughout his exterior transformation. Though he asserts his mental capacities, it is his change in appearance which causes his own family to turn against him and finally kill him. These events reveal how people may get dehumanized by society and the government only because of a gap in behaviour or appearance.
