The Brothers Karamazov The Brothers Karamazov deals with many aspects of life. More importantly though, the novel peers into the brain and its response to departure. The characters all run from passing in some way, and only those who could accept the suffering find justification. Along with the subject of death, the publication acts as an autobiography of Dostoevsky, expounding his different values and beliefs. To get his theme across, Dostoevsky utilized several stylistic devices, including imagery, irony, and dreams. However, his ability to write down what a character was considering particular minutes helped shed light on that individual's beliefs better than when he presented himself only through conversation or description. To be able to understand the connections between Dostoevsky and his various personalities, the author's life and background has to be analyzed. Born to lower middle class parents, Dostoevsky grew up in a demanding, impassive childhood. He dwelt amidst two diametrically other parents - his father, a righteous and stern military physician; and his mother, a kind, generous, and more lively woman. Thus, the simple fact that many of his novels contain very different characters could be gleaned from a childhood of 2 other parents. When Dostoevsky became elderly his father sent him to a military engineering institution, which later becomes important in analyzing the relationship between Dostoevsky and Dmitri Karamazov. While at college, he faced a number of hardships that could torment his lifetime and help explain the recurring themes in his books.
