My housemates and I were recently conversing of just how excited we all were of those quickly approaching Easter break. Everyone chimed in with their aims of seeing friends, family members, sleeping in and enjoying the relaxing time off from school. In retrospect nobody, myself included, recognized that the true grounds for this time off, which is to observe the resurrection of Jesus Christ analogous to this eschatological hope. Through this class I acquired a much better understanding of Easter and its significance throughout the Gospel of Luke. The Gospel of Luke begins with Jesus traveling to the territory of Jericho to continue his ministry. In route, he experiences a blind man begging along the street. The word of Jesus's experiences and wonders had spread by word of mouth, which gathered a crowd surrounding him. The blind guy, fascinated with the reason for the crowd, inquired what the hub bub was all about to which they informed him that, Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. For this the blind man shouted to receive his focus, Jesus Son of David have mercy on me. Jesus hearing the blind man's pleas stopped and asks the man to be brought to him. The man then asked for Jesus to aid him by restating his sight and upon this request his sight has been restored. He promptly showed his gratitude by following Jesus and giving praise to the god almighty. This accounts much like many others in bible succeeds concerning how exactly how controversial, miraculous and inclusive Jesus was through his healing and faith, all which eventually lead to his own crucifixion. The gospel of Luke illustrates the controversies that surround Jesus via a triangular pattern in which a man or group of individuals, typically the Romans or Pharisees, have a issue with Jesus's actions, wonders, healing.
