Psychotherapy is defined as "the desire to attain a goal or a particular performance level" (Bauer & Erdogen, 2009, p.97). Motivation theories are helpful tools that organizations can use to energize workers and foster a stimulating work environment. These theories are categorized as either content or process concepts. Today, Bauer and Erdogen (2009) state that lots of organizations have applied motivation concepts,like the goal setting theory and reinforcement theory, so as to alter their workers' behavior in the workplace through targets and reward systems. As stated by the reinforcement concept, behaviour that's rewarded is frequently repeated. Consequently, several organizations have utilized this theory by tying rewards to performance (Bauer & Erdogen 2009). The target setting theory which is used to improve performance through establishing objectives has been integrated into daily practices by organizations like Coca Cola, the Intel Corporation, and Microsoft Corporation. However, Bauer and Erdogen (2009) assert that simply setting goals alone doesn't inspire individuals.According into the goal-setting concept, goals need to be more "specific, measurable, competitive, realistic and time bound "to succeed (Bauer & Erdogen, 2009 p.129). Effective goals motivate employees since they give direction, energize people, supply challenges, and allow people to think outside the box. But, Bauer and Erdogen (2009) believe that targets are only effective when workers get feedback on their progress in achieving them.
