There are many reasons I'd chose to teach in New Orleans. The first is that I've got family in New Orleans and it would be nice to get nearer to them while at precisely the same time doing something that would make a difference. I feel that the New Orleans schools are a place where I could make a difference. My aim in becoming a teacher is to make a difference in the life of at least one teenager and many more. I want to do what my high school history teacher did. I want to create the last real to students. It's my view that given the chance I could change people's lives. I could get them interested in the topic matter by bringing it to life with new technology and possibly, just maybe, make that one pupil who would like to fall out stay at college and go off to college. I've always felt the best way to get a teacher to make a difference isn't to stick with what they're familiar with, which for me is a small town in rural Vermont, but rather to challenge themselves. After all it had been obvious to me in college that the teachers who had settled for what came easy were the teachers that the students didn't honor. I believe the students respect someone who is keen to step out of the part in order to attempt to make a difference. It shows the students that the person is real and truly wishes to test. That's why I wish to teach at the high need areas in the nation and at New Orleans especially. I feel that stepping outside of my comfort zone will let me finish my goals, while at the exact same time, hopefully , I could become a role model.
