Tom Sawyer Abroad In Tom Sawyer Abroad, Tom Sawyer and Nat Parsons (that had been postmaster of the village) told about the experiences they'd been on. They were constantly trying to tell the best stories, so that the individuals of the town could listen and become interested in them. However, Nat Parsons went to Washington and if he arrived back he informed about the thrilling things that happened. Shortly Nat got each of the people's attention, and Tom became envious and wanted to do more adventurous things than Nat so that he could tell stories about it. As long after Tom's yearning for adventure, there was discussion about a large hot air balloon which has been flying across the sea to Europe. A professor, that left the balloon, was likely to ride inside. The balloon has been coming into town, and Tom, his friend Huck Finn, and his black buddy Jim just had to watch it. They moved to the edge of the town and gazed at it with amazement. Other folks that had come to view the huge balloon were laughing in the scientist stating that a balloon could not fly across the ocean. Tom, Jim, along with Huck rose aboard the boat-like arrangement which was connected to the base of the balloon, so that they could have a better look in the flying balloon. Suddenly the balloon took off at the air with them and the professor in it. Tom was very excited about this, and soon the professor taught him how to steer the boat and land it.
