At Robert Browning's dramatic monologue 'My Last Duchess'; there are two characters that a lot of people could be compared to in the world these days. The two personalities are Alfonso II, Duke of Ferrara and his Duchess. Throughout the monologue the duke is described as being conceited, arrogant and perhaps maybe even psychotic. While his Duchess is the contrary of him, a person who enjoys life and everything it has to offer. The Duke is a bit of a conceited person due to the remarks he makes. In 1 portion of this monologue the duke is speaking to some Fra Pandolf, a fanciful monk and writer. He states that his existence (asthe duke) is inducing the joy of the duchess at a painting the Fra Pandolf is currently painting. The line says 'Sir, 'twasn't her husband's presence only, called that spot of joy into the Duchess Cheek (Lines 13-15).' ; Just by reading this remark you are aware that the duke is a egotistical individual that wants attention for him. In lines 34-35 he speaks of how his duchess would invite each guy who'd please her into some sort of way. The duke becomes upset at this and says that 'She thanked men great!
