In the early 1940's Marie was born into a tiny tight knit family living in a tiny rural Kentucky city. Marie is currently in her seventies and has led a very interesting life traveling the country, raising four kids, and forming her chosen profession. Our interview sessions were conducted within a time period, as Marie is very active and has small "free time" to spare. Early Life Her parents meet in a social gathering in town and where married shortly thereafter. Marie's name was chosen by her grandmother and mother, "since they loved to read the list was quite long with much debate over each title" If she was a boy her title would have been Francis, therefore she is very happy to have born a woman. Marie's great uncle was a doctor and delivered her in the local hospital. Her mother, was a housewife, as was the norm in these days and her father ran his own business. Her mother was very close with her parents, two brothers, and 2 sisters. When her grandmother was diagnosed with asthma that the family needed to move. In these days a dry climate was recommended, Arizona was the preferred state. Since her grandma could never quite leave home, KY, the family made several trips between the states. These trips back and forth ruled Marie's youth with her uncles and aunts being her childhood playmates. Marie's grandparent's had an old farm house, which was one of many houses in which she lived, that she remembers most. The house was enormous, she learned to walk, climb stairs, and find hiding places inside. The house needed a wide wrap around porch with different broad sets of stairs both in front and in back. She recalls sitting on the steps and playing with a few of the cats, by which there was plenty of cats living on the farm...
