ABSTRACT : This paper describes the basic risks to the network safety and the fundamental topics of interest for designing a secure network. It describes the critical characteristics of network security. A secure network is one that is free of bogus hackers and entries INTRODUCTION Over the last few decades, Internet-enabled organization, or e-business, has drastically improved efficiency and sales growth. E-business applications such as e-commerce, supply-chain direction, and remote access allow companies to streamline processes, lower operating costs, and increase customer satisfaction. Such programs require mission-critical networks that adapt voice, video, and data traffic, and such networks need to be scalable to support increasing numbers of users and the demand for greater capacity and performance. However, because networks enable more and more programs and are readily available to more and more consumers, they become ever more vulnerable to a larger range of safety hazards. To combat those threats and make sure that e-business transactions aren't compromised, security technology must play a major role in the current networks. Why Networks Must Be Secured? Attacks: - Without proper security, any component of any network can be susceptible to attacks or unauthorized action. Routers, switches, and hosts can all be violated by professional hackers, company competitors. In fact, according to a number of studies, over fifty percent of all network attacks are waged internally. To ascertain the best ways to protect against attacks, we should understand the various kinds of attacks which can be instigated and the damage that these attacks can cause to data. The most common types of attacks include Denial of Service (DoS), password, an...
