Boys and women, the battle of self-definition From Early history, we've seen gender roles being exhibited at a society. As villages were created, a more stable environment was shaped, making it much easier to start a household. Naturally the women became homebound; taking care of their kids and preparing meals, while the guys went outside to hunt and participate in several other physically demanding tasks. Gradually these functions became much more defined but as societies improved, the role of women did not. "Boys and Girls", composed by Alice Monroe is a brief narrative which displays the adversity of a woman in a guy's society. It reveals her first ambitions of assisting her dad on the farm, along with the sometimes not so subtle actions taken by her family, to show a women's character and where they stand.
