Toddler Observation Interview

After spending 60 minutes watching a child room in Ciudad Child Care and attention Centre in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico the following observations were made on the children.

Individual differences

Some children were scared to communicate with others while some did communicate openly. Most boys were reserved whereas females communicated easier and sometimes. However, males were more ambitious when it came to participating in ball, traveling tricycles, and climbing sandboxes. Girls enjoyed swinging and playing ball.

Types of has observed

Sensory motor unit plays

Some 2-3 12 months old kids could remain competitive in running, other could be seen kicking and throwing the ball over head. Majority seemed excited to pedal tricycles, swinging and climbing sandboxes, yet other were hopping and jumping around the play ground. Some of them crowded around a music system and danced as some tried out to sing along. However, those hateful pounds appeared to be withdrawn and uninterested with everything.

Symbolic plays

Some children were seen with bottle tops and plastic containers offering their friends urging those to take as dairy along with blocks of wood to consume as bakery. The recipients took and acted as though these were really eating. There is this band of children where one of these assumed a doctor's role and was possessing a bit of stick which he used as the syringe. The other kids acted as patients and would come one by one and become injected by the "doctor. Another group got there toy autos to a "garage where there was a group of mechanics.

Initiative plays

These involved children using their imaginative talents and skills to come up with something creative. Some children were able to construct a vehicle by arranging bins together with others using varied pack sizes. Others could be observed preoccupied with the building of block towers.

The "mine phenomenon among toddlers

Most toddlers were very self-centered and viewed a strong possessiveness with items and toys, saying them to be theirs. They could be been told crying, "mine, "my car, "my baby, etc whenever he/she saw other kids using their toys or toys which were identical to theirs. At times they would utter a bitter "no to others if their friends wanted to utilize their toys. Alternatively some of the kids who were utilizing toys owned by others would act in response with the same cry and does everything to ensure that they maintained the playthings to themselves. Most children tended to become more violent plus some even bit the owners of the playthings, pinched them or even poked their nose or eyes. In case the owners of toys and games were overcome, they would cry out for help from the caregiver. The caregiver appeared to be aware of every turmoil and in cases like this she required all the toys and games away and she released some songs which the kids sang and danced jointly. In the procedures the animosity which experienced built among the kids over the playthings subsided.

However, some children confirmed sympathy and were eager to let others using their toys so long as those lend to would come back over time or whenever the dog owner wanted.

Empathy and Prosocial behavior

Some children were seen taking aspect with those who looked turned down or withdrawn and would offer that can be played with them or even tell them their playthings and other things. They might offer protection with their weaker friends. There was this incident whenever a 1 calendar year old was snatched her toy by an intense 2 year guy. Another 3 12 months boy went straight to the other boy and grabbed the toy from him and offered it back to the little gal. This second young man and the tiny girl stayed alongside one another for all of those other session playing mutually.

Self-control

There are those children who tried to exercise self-control whereas others were totally incapable.

Majority exercised restraint for a few seconds when their toys or items were paid to other to make use of. However much the caregiver would persuade them to let others use their toys and games they found it not easy to get back their playthings/objects. Essentially the most aggressive toddlers wouldn't normally agree to any form of persuasion and would take what belongs to them by force.

INTERVIEW TOGETHER WITH THE PARENTS OF TODDLERS

The interview with the parents of older toddlers (aged between 2 and 3), on the reflection of the dissimilarities between their child as an infant and a young child involved asking them the next questions to that they responded consequently as mentioned below:

In standard, how is he/she different at age group 2, compared with age 69 calendar months?

Responses: the kid possessed increased in weight and elevation, he/she can walk, they run, kick and throw a ball, he/she can speak, can ride a tricycle, build block towers, bully others, there exists decreased appetite, etc.

How has your romance with him/her evolved in the past 1-1 years?

Response: He/she needs to be unbiased sometimes but would still need parental treatment just as a newborn. He/she seems very thrilled being together with the age-mates. He/she is very near the mom than the father and would easily discover the absence of the mom. He/she is somehow obedient to what the mother or father says but at times reacts in defiance.

What would you recall about him/her during the 3-4 months soon after he/she discovered to walk?

Response: He/she would once in a while pick up objects, take them or chuck them away and then follow them and move around tugging a toy behind him/her. He/she is all over the house, running and jumping in places, climbing up and down the furniture, foundation and stairs.

How has his/her ability to communicate changed? How has her new ability to understand and use words changed your relationship?

Response: He/she is able to communicate most of the items and easily practices instruction. It is very easier if the child is sick and tired where he/she is feeling pain, he/she can say when he/she famished or can exhibit his demands easier. The kid would try performing to the parent or would request the father or mother to sing him/her a music.

Do you think it is easier or harder (or perhaps some of each) to father or mother a toddler, weighed against an infant?

Response: It a little easier to parent or guardian a young child especially the main one who can talk in word other than a child who talk through crying. Communicating in words is much easier to understand as contrasted to a cry that could imply anything which range from hunger, pain, change of diaper, or sickness.
