The Rose symbolises Homer and the fathers want to her. The rose is also symbolic of damage s in her life. the information of houses and Emilys dilapidated old mansion symbolizes change from old to new. The environment of the storyline is also a style. It illustrates degradation of the old south. The story is defined in the southern town of Jefferson. The decaying emphasizes both Emilys decaying life and also devastation of southern morality and life styles. There is also the thought of slavery. The African American personas never speak but then he plays an essential role in the story. When people enquire about what is going on with Emily he never talks about her behavior. This implies that African People in the usa are alienated.
Many African American characters did not have labels. Others are used as reserves to white characters. Faulkner used African American man to show the relationship the type and Emily which discloses a few of the behaviour between blacks and whites before and even after slavery. We learn that blacks are discriminated against by the whites; they are seen as weaker and cannot be equated to them.
Faulkner story's framework is not written in a storyline. The story is disorganized as Emilys life. We must accept some results in life. The thought of dependence is strengthened when she refuses to leave Homer. One of Emily's traits is the fact that she is dependant. She is used to her house and all its weaknesses and not ready to let anything change even if people around her are encouraging and forcing her to do so. The story encourages visitors to face reality in life. Where change is necessary ii should be accepted (Faulkner 132)The storyline argus about forgiveness, compassion and understanding. this is through facing the reality of former and present which are inseparable. Isolation is also highlighted. It shows how people are isolated by households, community and traditions. The story is against isolation.
