Theme In Antigone

Antigone, by Sophocles, is a perform that has 3 major themes. All three of those themes enjoy a very important part in this perform. The three key themes happen to be fate, like, and pride. Oedipus had killed his father, california king of Thebes, not knowing it was his dad and then overtook Thebes. He married Iocaste, queen of Thebes (his mother), and had four children; one was obviously a girl called Antigone. Once Oedipus got figured out who he was and what he previously done he moved apart and cut out his eye.

Iocaste's cousin, Creon, had absorbed as california king of Thebes. He had manufactured Oedipus' two sons, Eteocles and Polyneices, enemies of each other and in addition they killed the other person. Creon denied Polyneices correct burial as they was an enemy and this where this play starts. Fate is what had gotten the family of Oedipus where we begin this kind of play. Destiny is why Oedipus had slain his father, marry his mother, and after that find out everything regarding it. Destiny then tortured Oedipus and he remove his sight. Fate got made Creon new king of Thebes and then possess Oedipus' sons kill each other.

Antigone's fate was going to die planning to honor her dead close friend and be dedicated her relatives. In the initially paragraph from the play that reads, "My darling sis Ismene, we have had a great inheritance coming from Oedipus. God has gone through the whole variety of sufferings and piled them on us, -grief after grief, humiliation upon humiliation". This explains to just how negative fate got treated the family of Oedipus. Creon's destiny though was to lose most of his family and live the remaining of his life understanding it was his entire mistake.

Ultimately of the play Creon says, " No one else to talk about the blame. Just me... My spouse and i killed you. I killed you my dear. Like is what had gotten Antigone in this problem. Her love for her brother was so great that she lost her existence for the respect that his deserved. Haemon's love for Antigone had built him kill himself when he found her dead body.

Creon's wife's love pertaining to Haemon experienced made her kill herself when she found out Haemon had slain himself. Ultimately because of this all Creon was the one that was denied like. Pride is what had gotten Creon in the clutter that having been in. His pride was so great that he couldn't even declare that probably he was wrong.
