The effect of Internet on reputation of identity

Identity recognition is a hot topic in recent years. It is an elaborate issue that no definition of the word has been setup in science. The first time "identity of belief" goes to the general public as a clinical term is in The Interpretation of Dreams (posted in 1900) by the great psychologist, Sigmund Freud. He suggested that dreaming was an unconscious process of information in the day time, which shared the role of controlling individual's mental and psychical activities. Thus he stated that dreaming taken care of the personality's continuity and personal information. Identity conception performs an important role in individual beings' psyche, he suggested. The contemporary society is producing quickly, making humans lost in acknowledgement of personality in public life and also in psycho. Problems of identity are studied for a long time in various areas, and the conceptions of identification differ. A lot of the recent studies are conducted in sociology, which give attention to study the sociable groups, public phenomena and sociable behavior. Here in this paper, I concentrate on the individual's action, individual's interpretations of the info on the internet, and how the internet affects individuals.

Identity is the status of an individual's consciousness of the partnership with oneself, people around and with the environment. It is more about how precisely an individual sees himself, predicated on the aggregation of his personal characteristics, personal thoughts, personal prices, personal judgments and his interpretations about the information inwards and outwards. To determine one's identity, we have to "aggregate one's characteristics of personality that are of a biological, psychological, communal, and cultural dynamics. "(Vladimir Rimskii, 2)Identity is a stable consciousness that can last for some time once create. It enables someone to "be oneself in several situations. " (Vladimir Rimskii, 2)However, personality changes with the surroundings changes. Individuals take in various and changing information for the new situations, and this process of aggregation with information will slightly change the individual's understanding by himself identity. So is out there the probability to "coexistence of different identities" (Vladimir Rimskii, 2)at one and the same instant. In some instances, this brings about crisis because the version of individuality lags behind the changes the truth is.

Childhood plays a substantial and essential role in developing an individual's personal information, which continues until death. Identity forming is approximately mental development, inspired not only by biological factors, but mainly by social factors. The relations and connections among children, parents, culture and social life of the community play a very important role in shaping one's identity. Being a person enter into his adolescence years, personal information keeps forming and yet changing, for his about time of mental development and values forming. A teenager goes through a period of getting rid of the effect of parents and setting up self-values in the changing environment. In many cases, these children have the problems of identity for their lack of experience in life. Because they grow up, they will begin to form their own identities as the popularity of particular tasks and the rejection of other assignments. This process will slow down as they go into adulthood, and they will have stereotype identities, which can be relatively steady. However, the identity crisis among adolescents is a hot topic lately. The new era is reported to be too cool and willful. They face a world packed with information. They have a great deal of chances to speak to different people, find out about different thoughts, and know what's occurring surrounding the world. Therefore, their identities are easily influenced and modified. Also, due to overindulgence with their parents, they young generation lose some chances to think about life and future independently. They neglect to pay enough focus on the id forming. Therefore, id crisis is a very import yet complicated issue. In this paper, I will try to briefly analysis the internet's affects on youth's id conception.

Identities in the reality

Many identities are regarded as social roles getting together with other individuals. Human beings live within communal groups. They have more than one role when linking with others. Each role may have its own id or tend to have slightly different personality. These different identities coexist in a single at the same moment in time of their time, thus is accessible the possibility a person may not in a position to show all his personalities and assignments in one id cards. The other likelihood is that folks around cannot obviously know who the person is. The author (Vladimir Rimskii, 3) shows that collective identities of any social group enable its associates to "determine who belongs and would you not. " Individuals more often than not interact with associates of particular public groups, which make them constantly modify or affirm their own identities. According to him, we can know a person by checking the sociable group he belongs to.

It is true that sociable life and sociable experiences help a person to achieve a definite identification. To be able to achieve a feeling of belongingness, self-preservation, identification, self-realization and other needs, a person will join in some certain public groups by attaining membership. ( Vladimir Rimskii, 4)

However, humans have subjective initiatives. One may not want to disclose his complete real information in social life with the purposes such as self-protection. Also, one may fake his information to be able to get into a group. People are destined to the conventions of the world. They live in a world filled with limitations. They cannot fully share and show their ideals, judgments, behaviors, and personalities. For example, the Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual (GLB) may not want people around them to know their secrets. They could cover up in the event other folks blame them for operating against the ethnic and social practices. Therefore, one will not present the "true" person of oneself the truth is and we can not know a "true" person by handling the intended display of his identity.

In the process of identification, an individual may project his own personal information onto someone else. He may borrow someone else's personality, or combine his own identity with the identities of others, to be able to create a fresh him.

Identities on the internet

Today, thousands of men and women have utilized to the internet, and also have identities in the online world. The number keeps growing at an extremely fast velocity. Individualism and the liberty of expression might be the first reason that folks form a fresh individuality on the internet. (Julie Rak, 7)There is no restrictions of creating an id on the internet, so a person can register a great id, do whatever and say whatever he would like on the internet. Another reason for people's development of individuality on the internet is that people prefer to create ideal identities that cannot be realized in the real world. Individuals can make a decision their behaviour, perceptions, stereotypes, judgments, thoughts, assessments, priorities, likes, means of life, characteristics of activity, etc. Internet makes it possible for individuals to attain self-realization and also to be ideal ones for a while. Quite not the same as the reality, there is also opportunity for a person to use a quantity of different identities simultaneously without needing verifiable information.

People have been arguing about advantages and disadvantages of internet on identities. The supportive aspect shows that we can know a person better through internet because his identities online are typically the ones that he wants to be. Those identities expose the real inside of a person. People will cost safe and comfortable to chat on the internet. They use nicknames with limited information discovered. The information does not have to be true, which protects people from being traced. Additionally, the communication is mainly non-face-to-face. Therefore, people may become more willing to share their real thoughts and applying for grants the internet than in real life.

However, the opposed part argues that folks who get addicted to the internet may lose their identities in the truth and neglect to bear his tasks. They suggest that individuals turn to the internet to avoid things in real life. Over the internet, all things, including personal information information, thoughts and emotions may be fake, that may easily confuse people. The exposure to different kinds of information and identities won't help people clear up their minds. It is much more likely to take people away from real life with their responsibilities.

Combination of Identities in the reality and on the internet

Based on the conversations between your supportive and opposed sides, I would recommend that the combo of identities in the truth and on the internet may be a useful way to help solve the personal information crisis. People bottom part on the truth to face the life span, bear the obligations and solve problems. Therefore, the personal information in the reality ought to be the basic and should be stable. It defines a person's position in a modern culture. However, it's understandable that individuals want to keep personal secrets and hide characteristics and feelings. The internet is a good way for them to relieve the pressure from certainty and try to be another part of themselves. Therefore, the mixture of the identities in the truth and on the internet may complete someone's identities and is good for human experiences. However, one important premise for this is that the internet should be under more control to give a safer internet environment.

To totally solve the challenge of identity turmoil, more in-depth studies of identities on the Internet, and exploration of the positive and negative ramifications of their affects on individual identification perceptions, should be conducted. We think that these findings may shed some light on tackling the situation of identity turmoil in the near future.
