The Curriculum of Montessori

As educators our role is to instruct children through curriculum. Over time many different types of curriculum have been created. Curriculum is defined as the training programs, activities, institution subjects, materials, plans, and issues of research (Arce). The Montessori Method was set up over 100 yrs. back and continues to be found in some form in today's class rooms. It is commonly associated using its popular child-size furniture in the class room, but there is much more to Montessori Method as I am going to discuss information later.

The Montessori Method was made in Rome, Italy by Dr. Montessori in 1907. During this time period period in the first 1900's the normal age group of children to get started on attending institution was 6 yrs old. Montessori curriculum has advantages and disadvantage in comparisons to traditional classrooms.
