I became thinking about learning to be a special education teacher and a mentor at an extremely young age. Throughout primary and senior high school anytime which i was asked what I wanted to be after i grew up I would say that I needed to work with special education kids. My kindergarten teacher Ms. Hanson was the greatest effect on me attempting to become a professor. She was always so kind to everyone and would help you with any issue you had. She'd never do the task for you but work with you in a way to help you realize what it was you would have to be doing. WHENEVER I was in her class and up until today I've always told people that I hoped to be always a educator like her.
Although there a wide range of skills, both job-related and personal, that are essential to being an efficient teacher I believe communication is the main. Communication skills are a must for dealing efficiently with students, parents, other teachers and administrative staff. It's important to clearly communicate with your students your classroom expectations, tasks, and other directions that you might provide them with. Communication with parents is very important not only to keep them modified on the child's improvement but also as a means that you should understand and become alert to any problems the college student may be facing during times. Communication is also the key to having the ability to discuss problems or concerns you are experiencing with their child in your class room. Although I feel that communication is the most crucial creativity and planning skills are also important skills to make your classroom successful. Maintaining your students interested and attempting to learn is a superb way for everyone to accomplish their objective. If you don't keep students interested plus they feel that course is boring your students may lose interest and not have the full benefit for what they must be learning.
Personally, I have developed many helpful skills through assisting our friends raise their handicapped child, being around and babysitting my sisters little girl, and also from working in the classroom with various educators. Whether it's enjoying someone's children for the summertime or employed in a structured environment you learn to develop communication, ingenuity, and planning skills. I believe helping with our friends handicapped child has helped me the most with my communication skills because I'd have to tell them by the end of every day what we worked on, how her improvement was coming, and what I thought would be best on her behalf next activities. I also learned a good deal about imagination and planning because they fundamentally remaining her daily learning and activities us if you ask me but I put to tell them ahead of time whatever we were going to be focusing on.
I have had many transitions within my educational job. I began at Odessa College where there have been many targets especially because of playing softball and missing so many classes scheduled to being out of town. The professors and the curriculum were very powerful and required a whole lot of focus, hard work, and study time that was difficult used to after being at a high school where I didn't to do much studying at all and rarely ever endured to make up work that was overlooked credited to being out of town with softball. My next move was from Odessa College or university to Northwestern School in Oklahoma. This transition was even more complicated because not only do they have high targets but I got also away from my family for the first time ever. Although I resided in the dorms while going to Odessa College they were still just a 10 minute drive away. My last school change was from Northwestern in Oklahoma back to Odessa to the School of the Permian Basin. This was a simple transition for me personally because of the fact which i was back to being with my children and friends that we had grown up with. I think my final transition was of great value if you ask me because Personally i think that I have benefited greatly from the professors at UTPB and also have learned a great deal more than what I had been learning in Oklahoma. The hard area of the transition was the fact that lots of of my classes did not transfer then it is taking me almost per year longer to complete my certification. Through the transitions from college to classes the most challenging part was the course requirements. It's very difficult to finish two years of school in a single express and then copy to another declare that has a totally different program for learning to be a instructor and then back to the state in which you originally started out your certification. Although it has used me just a little longer I feel that the transitions that I have gone through to accomplish my documentation have been a learning experience for me personally and will be good for me throughout my profession as a teacher.
I think that transition strategies would be helpful to anyone who's making a institution related transition. I'd also like to offer advice to students transferring from one point out to some other to be sure you do tons of research up front on exactly what will transfer and exactly what will not so you don't lose time in achieving your documentation. The author of the textbook claims that "moving from one setting to another, students must learn to change to different curriculum demands, educating styles, behavioral prospects, class designs, and pupil socialization habits" (Salend, 2010, pg 210). A change plan could have been beneficial to me to make me more well prepared for my new activities.
