I discovered that making this educational presentation to be a very challenging experience. This was mainly right down to working with an organization of people which i don't know, another factor that may have contributed is that I had to study an area of London that I'm not familiar with. Despite how challenging I thought the experience was I also found that focusing on, and presenting the presentation to be always a rewarding experience, this is because I was able use theories I put learned and apply them to a specific area. The groups we were in were allocated at random, this is done by giving each person lots between one and four, the quantity you received is the group that you will be in, this led there to blended groups with blended levels of ability. I found the procedure to be quite bothersome when i was break up from the friends I had developed formed in the seminar group, the group I was put into contains four people.
After being allocated into are groups were advised that for the display we're able to choose any post code to analyze as long as it was at London. Following this we were then told that we got to gather information about that specific area and that we needed to use different theory's to make clear the information we had gathered. By the end of the seminar the group I used to be in all exchanged contact details so we could talk over the up coming 3rd party learn week. In the independent review week we chose as a group which area we want to study which was Harlesden. The duty I was presented with was to choose a crime of my choice and gather reports on the crime using the Metropolitan Authorities statistics website, later on I'd use the theories that we had been taught inside our lectures and workshops to describe the crime I had fashioned chosen. Another part of my task was to find reports and information about the cover in Harlesden and try to compare them with the crime reports I had compiled.

Finding reliable robbery statistics was quite self-explanatory to do as the reports on the site were current and were simple enough to understand. This was quite contrary to the info on casing on the MET Police figures website, the most difficult part, for me at least, was trying to decide what information was relevant and useful and separating it from the useless irrelevant information. Another factor that hindered me was that the majority of the information was outdated which made it unreliable. This problem was not just isolated if you ask me as other associates of my group also encountered being confronted with too much information and suffering outdated statistics. It was useful that the group I had been in would hook up twice weekly beyond the seminars to go over the progress that we experienced each made, it also recommended that we could discuss any conditions that we were having and tone any concerns that we acquired about the presentations. One problem with this is that one person in the group almost always never arrived to the meetings which isn't ideal for the group or the average person. During one of the first meetings we'd I advised my group about the problems I was facing trying to find reliable information on real estate, the group helped me decided that I should just accumulate the statistics for robbery in Harlesden. After I did this they explained I can then use these reports and compare it with the prior year, the thinking behind this is that by checking the robbery rates of this years and the prior 12 months we can show whether or not the actions being taken by the authorities or preventions the authorities have put in place to decrease robbery in Harlesden are truly working, in addition they suggested that I should compare Harlesdens robbery rate against the MET total as this would show how Harlesden compares with robbery rates in terms of the complete of London.
In my display I used three ideas to describe robbery, the three I chose to use were the classicist strategy of rational decision, zones of changeover theory and also the comparative deprivation theory. This shows how working in a group can be beneficial as they helped me observe that I shouldn't judge a location on just statistics and that you need to talk with people that stay in the area to fully understand the area. If I have been in an organization with people that didn't are in Harlesden I believe my first impression of the area would be the impression that could have today, yet having people in my own group who got experienced Harlesden first palm and could talk about the encounters they have had helped assist in changing my first impression.
I experienced this display helped me because I was able to improve on my weakness which I had that was my display skills and this allowed me to boost this in a later demonstration I did so for another module. So reflecting on my connection with this presentation allowed me to improve 'the capacity to reflect on action so as to engage in an activity of ongoing learning' (Sch¶n, 1983:173). This experience also proved that I was able to complete my research and gather information and deliver it in a presentation which was a new thing for me. At first I didn't feel self-assurance that I'd have the ability to deliver a good piece of work, but by dealing with others it has shown me that if you all work together on a piece of work it generally does not appear as daunting and it'll make the knowledge more rewarding.
