Qlik aspires to take its customers over a journey to start out exploring data in a way they haven't done before and gain insights to visit a complete picture of their business.

In very competitive business intellect and analytics space, Qlik must make decisions and be competitive more effectively. This requires Qlik to see complete picture of its business by allowing it to combine Qlik departmental systems to operate combination functionally. Qlik has many applications that help business units make decisions. Sales, Marketing and Product management can reap the benefits of business level applications where business units don't make decisions just what they see in their data but overall what's happening at Qlik. It can benefit include existing Qlik applications.

Another business problem that IT can help at Qlik is collaboration at Qlik. 86% of executives and employees "cite lack of collaboration or inadequate communication for place of work failures. It is essential that many people are on the same page. Each team uses different tools to talk to one another and other teams. A straightforward example is report sharing. Locating a document that might help collaborate with other groups is not necessarily easy at Qlik as it can be stored on Collaborate, Confluence, SharePoint, shared network folders or a great many other places. IT can help with one system for document writing. This will help Qlik Employees save time and collaborate better. IT can also offer other solutions such as video recording conferencing, employee idea sharing system, employee social system to increase collaboration and team development across its remote control employees.

Current Condition

Information Technology (IT) at Qlik Technology plays a key role in allowing Qlik's competitive advantages by supporting high performance and scalable expansion. IT at Qlik is a small business function which goes information about Qlik employees, products and techniques over the company to help in decision making and problem resolving. Qlik Information Technology department is divided into IT Service Management (email, Mobile phone, Web, IM), Venture Architecture (Solution, Consumer Experience, Technology and Information Structures), EPMO (Project Management), IT Cloud & ecommerce, Business of IT (Financial, Vendor, Benchmarking) sub departments lead by Main Technology Officer, Anthony Deighton.

IT supports Qlik Employees, customers, companions and community. 75% of the Qlik Employees work remotely from their home. (Visual Analytics Market Leader | Qlik. , n. d. ) Each team uses different tools for doc sharing. Finding a document a program manager may need to run for training tasks requires to have a look at documents stored on various places - Collaborate, Confluence, SharePoint, shared network folders. This causes waste of time and irritation; there is no central knowledge showing system for Qlik employees find relevant information they want. This also is a risk for knowledge management as employees retire or leave Qlik.

However, internal functions for product development, inner enablement, ideation are often not well thought as the company steps very fast, too fast sometimes to remember to define and report. Processes are often dynamic, continuously changing. This again often creates dilemma and stress with employees.

Information Technology helps businesses, change and sustainability at Qlik. They have configured all worker laptops with backup, recovery capabilities that employees need not worry about losing any of their data. Disaster recovery and business continuity restoration plans are well defined. Qlik Systems are highly available, reliable and lightweight to numerous devices Qlik employees, customers and partners use. Qlik IT constantly must match needs of its employees and create scalable, progressive alternatives with great individual experience. Qlik is constantly growing and scalability of its systems have been a concern.

Future State

With in depth observations listed in today's status section above, Qlik can benefit from a central knowledge writing system such as Confluence in figure 3. That is a platform that will support not only doc posting but also cooperation Qlik employees will need across departments with capacities to find and discover easily, update and socialize. IT will need to help bring all relevant documents to the new knowledge writing system and define operations to share, update and achieve. This will help Qlik Employees reduce the time they devote to locating what they want, access relevant & most updated paperwork and collaborate with one another easier. With central value of "move fast" Qlik employees often forget about documenting internal operations. The brand new knowledge management space will also house and encourage paperwork of internal processes. New Employees will benefit from this as well as risk of shedding information when a worker chooses to leave Qlik will lower.

There is not a support of technology or steps set to share new ideas at Qlik and its impressive culture. Qlik can benefit from an ideation program where Qlik Employees can share new product/enhancement ideas, vote on other ideas and focus on new ideas together to better Qlik products and services. Qlik IT will need to provide the technology employees will need to use for ideation as well as procedures to post, vote and put into practice these ideas.

Current Talk about section highlighted need to for organization level applications where Qlik employees can evaluate data across departments. Qlik IT needs to work on 360 applications with product, marketing, sales, customers and training data all included. This will help reduce amount of inside departmental applications and produce a central software with data contained to start to see the complete picture. Marketing can see how their promotions are effecting sales, training can have a look at sales and customer information to set-up more relevant content for Qlik customers. Sales, Marketing and Product management can benefit from venture level applications where sections don't make decisions precisely what they see in their data but overall what's going on at Qlik.

Future status will also include better connection tools across remote control employees. This consists of interaction during meetings as most are electronic as well as public interaction and team building. Supported video tutorial conferencing with interactive functions for virtual conferences such as shown in figure 4 can help cooperation and team building at Qlik.

Project Overview

At Qlik where customer (internal or external) satisfaction is at high concern, to implement advised improvements stated in this survey, Agile methodology works the best. Applying all at one time with waterfall method will be a fail at Qlik as there's a quick tempo of change. Recommended improvements will need to be delivered to Qlik employees in continuous delivery of useful chunks produced by an iterative process. In this manner, Qlik IT can deliver results quicker and with potential to respond to changes at Qlik.

Qlik is mature at software development and used to implementations in agile manner as Qlik product improvements are developed using agile methodology. Culture at Qlik of move fast also supports delivery and viewing results fast. With need to collaborate on these recommended tasks across departments, there could not be always clear definition of development requirements beforehand as the assignments start. The Agile methodology is versatile, and allows for changes to be produced in the project development requirements even following the preliminary planning has been completed.

Qlik IT will benefit from employee responses and even tweaking job priorities depending on this responses. Delivery in smaller iterations can help assess success of changes and adoption of new knowledge management platform, collaboration tools and enterprise level applications. Without establishing business processes in place and understanding needs of Qlik employees, IT can't be successful with these changes. Having great benefits, functions, right technology, a great infrastructure is merely small part of the success equation. People are the main drivers behind the success of technology.
