North America Vs Lifestyle In SOUTH USA History Essay

As we realize, there are numerous continents inside our world; a few of them are more developed than the others. Even though they have some things in keeping, for example each of them have wealthy and poor people, and other things, all are different from the other person in various kinds of things such as: color, competition, culture, way of thinking, approach to life and so on, however the thing that we have no idea is that even in the same continent there are a few differences in the way we live every day, our lifestyle, for example inside our continent, America. What I wish to say is that the lifestyle in North America is very different from the approach to life in SOUTH USA and upon this essay I'll give some reasons to aid this point also to explain the reason why of why sometimes people react and are in a different way and the things they do to improve their lifestyle. I will also compare two important literature that show some characteristics of different lifestyles of the same continent.

Lifestyle can be portrayed inside our daily work and also in our leisure patterns patterns so as in activities, attitudes, interests, thoughts, principles. Besides it could be seen in people's way of thinking, the way they see themselves and exactly how they think that other folks see them. Lifestyle in North America in the '20s was all about money, women and functions, that's the reason of why this decade is called "The Jazz Time", for example in the book "THE FANTASTIC Gatsby" by Francis Scott Fitzgerald, money takes on an important role in the complete book, everything people did were related to money, including the parties people manufactured in their mansions were all merely to show other folks the energy and the influence that they had because they were rich; as Nick Carraway in The fantastic Gatsby said:

In that part, people can recognize that money performed an important role in the culture and affected people's tendencies. By that time in North America, after World Battle I, life transformed because people were concerned about the pursuit of the "American Fantasy" that was related to find their contentment in order to truly have a successful life. There have been people from other countries that came up to THE UNITED STATES to change their lifestyle for an improved one and they did anything to be better, like regarding Jay Gastby, a guy who evolved his old approach to life for a wealthier life and status, He did many things to improve his situation, for example changing his name for him not to be recognized, and as people didn't know where he was there were many gossips about his old life:

"Somebody told me that he(Jay Gatsby) wiped out a guy once" (Fitzgerald 1925:21)

"it's more that he (Jay Gatsby) was a German spy during the warfare" (Fitzgerald 1925: 21)

All of these gossips were part envy and part ignorance. Other exemplory case of this could be Myrtle Wilson, a female in her middle-thirties that really was thinking about changing her lifestyle for an improved one, and she organized to do anything to achieve her goal, even becoming the fan of a rich man to forget the poor life she acquired with her man. Her life was about appearances; like in the part of the reserve when she got a fresh dress for a celebration:

"She had improved her dress to a darkish figured muslin" (Fitzgerald 1925:12)

"It's only a crazy old thing she said. I just slip in on sometimes once i don't worry what I look like" (Fitzgerald 1925:15).

North American lifestyle had not been only related to money, but also with other changes like the role of the ladies in the 1920s. Before that point, in the United States there was a great deal of prohibition for girls; they were prohibited to work, to drink, smoke cigarettes, etc. From that era, women kept their old role of just being truly a good housewife and taking care of their children at home. Before that get older, women didn't value themselves as they should, men took advantages of them because they were week, exactly like regarding Daisy Buchanan and her husband Tom Buchanan, she tolerated that Tom struck her when he was mad at her, because Tom was a powerful man who offered her a lot of items and a prosperous life that she cannot have by herself and also because women did not possess the courage to avoid with those mistreatments, like in the part of the booklet where she talked to Tom about her harm finger:

"Look! I injure it you achieved it TomI know you didn't suggest to, but you did get it done. That's what I get for marrying a brute of a guy, a great, big, hulking physical specimen" (Fitzgerald 1925:6)

Because of these kind of men, women started to change their personality and way of living their life, they began to have their own thoughts and respect themselves, women needed on assignments that had previously been the conserve of men; they started out to work exterior and go to university, a good example of this "new women" was Jordan Baker, a woman who was a professional golfing player, a thing that in previous years women would have never dreamed before. She was the girl who did not want a guy beside her to help her and also to make decisions on her behalf as women in previous years used to think; as Nick Carraway said once in the book:

"she was a small-breasted girl with an erect carriage, which she accentuated by throwing her body backward at the shoulder blades such as a young cadet" (Fitzgerald 1925:6)

These words illustrate that Jordan Baker experienced a strong and various personality, almost a "manly" one, and also she presents the new approach to life and behaving in the new modern culture. Other types of women of the new years were the people called "the flappers", women who dressed up in a specific way; they wore short skirts, some other "Bob" design of hair, etc. After that, 1920's fashion for women followed the fashions worn by the flappers. Flapper fashion was a natural style of dress that made the flapper woman look younger. They also had a liberal lifestyle where they paid attention to jazz and started to dance scandalous boogie styles like the Charleston, the Shimmy, and the Black Bottom, besides putting on a great deal of makeup, driving a vehicle cars and drinking and smoking exceedingly. In that way new women loved their life in the Northern part of America.

In compare of the life span in North America, full of money and excesses, life in South America was about fixing some issues that several countries possessed with individuals, for example in Peru, where in fact the discrimination was an essential concern that was influencing the Inca civilization, because the wealthy people did not respect their privileges, taking them away from their lands and even using these folks almost like slaves, just because they were poor plus they did not have education, because they had never gone to a school plus some of them did even not know to read or write. The Indian way of living was based on cultural things such as religious ceremonies and their "parties" were very different from those in North America, these ones were not about displaying their richness, they celebrated in touch with the Earth, appreciating the things that they got after that. Indian people didn't wanted a huge change in their lifestyle, they didn't want to improve just how their civilization functioned and the way and conditions that they live, they just wanted to be educated for individuals to respect their protection under the law; Ernesto Guevara said:

"The mestizo curator was very educated with a amazing eagerness for the competition whose blood vessels flowed in his blood vessels. He spoke to us of the splendid past and today's misery, of the urgent need to educate the Indians, as an initial step toward total treatment" (Guevara 2004:117).

Moreover, in the book "The motor bike diaries", Ernesto Guevara De la Serna along with his good friend Alberto Granados travelled along South America and they realized the problems that the area of the continent has and that they didn't know before, since they came from a prosperous family. Within their trip they could start to see the big difference in people's lifestyle depending on the country, but all the countries experienced a thing in common, the poverty that ornamented them. Aside from the former exemplory case of Peru, there are other countries such as Chile that in those years possessed many problems related to money, that affected families, because a lot of people travelled for your country searching for employment and they had to leave their children exclusively to go to find some cash for nourishing them; in the book someone refers to this situation:

"with his handful of men, venturing 50 or 60 kilometers a day without obtaining a drop of drinking water or even some shrub to shelter from the hottest hours, leaves a strong impression. " (Guevara 2004:85).

"Veritable waves of Chileans are motivated by all of this into emigrating to Argentina, in search of the famous city of yellow metal which cunning political propaganda has offered those who live to the western of the Andes. " (Guevara 2004:87)

Although Chilean individuals were poor, they had some instances to enjoy themselves, they gave some celebrations for the residents were they ate typical food, drank a great deal of wine beverages and danced the whole night time; like in this part of the e book where Ernesto Guevara said:

"Chilean wine is excellent and I was enjoying it unbelievably quickly, so much so that by the time we went on to the village dance I noticed ready to undertake the entire world. The evening progressed pleasantly as we kept filling our bellies and our mind with wine beverages" (Guevara 2004:61).

The motorcycle diaries is defined in the 1950s, here, the role of the ladies was very different from the role of the ladies of the 1920s in North America, because in the '50s women were repressive and constrictive, since they had to be a good better half and be there for their man, to do the households and to look after their children if indeed they acquired children, like in the web site www. associatedcontent. com where it identifies the role of the woman:

"A diligent housewife had dinner up for grabs precisely at this time her husband came from work. A partner was a "good" better half only when she completed her man's every order and agreed with him on everything. " The people's advertising company (2010) Associated content information (on line). This demonstrates the girl in this decade was only there for her spouse and she did not had the right to have an opinion or a life apart from the life in the house, very different from the "Flappers" of the 20s, where men were not a part of their lives, they just used men merely to have a great time and that was all.

As we're able to see in those earlier paragraphs, life styles in the American continent were completely different from each other, because of reasons like the amount of money that people experienced, the culture, the way they developed in the society, and the most important of all, the way they tried to change their old lifestyle in order to be happy with a new one, and I think that inside our current culture still happens the same thing because we never are happy with what we've. Although fighting to change your daily life sometimes is a good simple fact, since there are people who fight against poverty to be able to have an improved life for the coffee lover and for their future decades.
