Having the opportunity to inwendig for the Travis Region Sheriff is Office was obviously a very educational and educational experience. Understanding certain ideas and concepts help me appreciate how a jail functions. During the time I interned at the Travis county prison I was assigned to the programs ' division. I was in order to participated and find out from other categories of the jail. I did things like attend court docket hearings, see psychiatric assessments, help and teach classes in the applications department, and I was able to go walking and spend time with the guards learning from their particular side of the job. General I was in a position to talk to the various divisions that take a part in helping a jail function.
The programs division consist of various programs and classes including yoga, child-rearing, relapse avoidance, GED, innovative writing, guidance groups and much more. I caused a counselor and her group of inmates in a category called Probability. This category taught inmates how to cope with all their emotions as well as how to maintain healthier relationships. The lady helped these people identify the triggers to their emotions, and how to maintain control more than their emotions. She also trained them techniques to help them maintain healthy relationships with other people. I was likewise able to help with a parenting programs called PACT (Parents and children together). This program allowed inmates that went to the program and completed specific tasks along with managed good habit to see youngsters once a month. ... o a huge problem which should be addressed. Correctional officers are certainly not trained in the academy to manage mental health issues inmates. Although psychiatrist put in the biggest efforts they can, prisons are not built for these types of inmate, they are built for real bad guys.
My period as a scholar at The University of Tx at San Antonio helped me prepare for my own internship to some extent. I was pleased with the overall experience of this course because I seriously believe that gave me crucial tools that we will need to get future jobs. Interning for a imprisonment has allowed me to understand the importance and need for rehabilitation and the importance of helping inmates with the re-entry process. Following this internship my personal career target has been attracted to finding a way that I will help improve the idea and launch of rehabilitation to the lawbreaker justice system in Arizona.
