The delicate approach of Lily in conjunction with her effective words toward Seldon shows Lily's true feeling toward Seldon. "I'm dying pertaining to tea-but isn't there a quieter place? " (Wharton 6). Lily manages to obtain privacy with Seldon steering clear of as much attention as possible. However, insinuation of Seldon and Lily becoming in a marriage would be especially detrimental to her social standing up.
