Victor Hugo is known to get his good work in loving literature. In one of his best known functions, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, there exists a very frequent theme of like. Love may both be a wonderful issue, and something that may cause a unpleasant heartbreak. In The Hunchback of Notre Hie, love is depicted as both of these. Phoebus de Chateaupers, the chief of the king's archers, is among the characters that brings out his passion theme, although not always in the right way. He is likely to use is attractive looks and charm to generate women show up head over cures in love with him, but sadly he seldom loves again. Phoebus's perception of how a female should be cured is among his faults that prevail in The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

One of the women that Phoebus disrespected in this publication is his fiancé, Fleur-de-Lys de Gondelaurier. Despite the fact that we were holding soon to be married, this always seemed like a task much Phoebus showing any sort of empathy for his fiancé. For instance, at the engagement party in the couple, which needs to be a very cheerful event filled with love, Phoebus wasn't very worried with getting romantic. "Discomfort and monotony were written clearly on all his features" (105). It was incredibly rude and disrespectful towards Fleur-de-Lys and her mother when Phoebus didn't for least pretend to have a great time on the event. Also, throughout the book Phoebus conned on Fleur-de-Lys one time we know of, yet from the method he functions, the reader will believe that there have been multiple times exactly where Phoebus was not loyal to her. The one female that we find out Phoebus features cheated upon Fleur-de-Lys with is La Esmeralda. "The captain, emboldened by her gentleness, required her midsection without any level of resistance on her part, then started to unlace her blouse" (149). One can only hope that blouse that Phoebus can be unlacing is his fiancés, but regrettably it's not really. It is the jumper of La Esmeralda. Regardless of the efforts of Fleur-de-Lys to become a loving fiancé, Phoebus was very bluff towards her.

Along with his wife to be, Phoebus also disrespected La Esmeralda. After the episode at the Gondelaurier mansion when ever La Esmeralda's goat said "Phoebus" with all the blocks coming from around his neck, Phoebus realized that La Esmeralda was infatuated with him. "Fleur-de-Lys ran as well as shuddered.
