History of the Latin Kings

Keywords: papa ruler latin kings, papa santos latin, latin kings history

The History of the Latin Kings begins in the 1920s or 1930s, but at this time these were known under a different name. In the beginning of the 20th century a whole lot of Puerto Rican immigrants came to NY. A whole lot of groupings were created, such as "Noble Knights" (who've ties to today's Latin Kings) or "Young Lords". The group still has cable connections to these gangs. The creator of the initial Latin Kings is named "Papa King" or "Papa Santos". He started the gang in the 1950s in Chicago. Although he is an important person in the annals of Latin Kings you do not know much about him or his life. Even his birthday is anonymous. He himself was a "Young Lord". Due to oral reviews the LK were formed on the Southside of Chicago on the place of 18th and Wabash. Through the 60s they truly became more and more successful and expended to the north. They grew faster and were the best sorted out gang these days.

The Latin Kings worked with social individuals, because they received federal government benefits from meeting them. That is why they acted increasingly more bad to get more and much more benefits, such as money, fun activities, etc. Today this system doesn't exist nowadays, of course.

Some gangs thought the LK were part of the "Royal Kings", who possessed quarrels with the so called "Ambrose". As a consequence the Latin Kings and Ambrose became foes.

In the 1970 the LKs were often linked with major crimes and organized legal activities. 1977/78 these were suspected for robbing an armory. The FBI imprisoned one member, who recognized that they had stolen armed service weapons. It was rumored that they sold them to different allied gangs. Within the 1980s the LK persuaded also white gangs to join the so called "people alliance", created with "Vice Lords" and "Elrukns".

In 1888 "Papa King" was killed. His fans were "Lord Gino" (of whom you say that he bought Papa Kind's loss of life) as the first choice of the LKN in jail and "Baby king" as head on the streets.

Size and Ethnic Origin

Since the 1990s they're also distributed in NEW YORK and nowadays you can find them nearly all around the US. The Latin Kings and Queens Nation is primary pass on in Illinois, Tx, and Florida and of course in NY and Chicago. Although they have many allies they are still the third greatest gang in Chicago and folks say that it's the biggest and most influential Latino gang on the globe. Experts guess that there are about 50. 00 to 80. 000 users world wide, but you will never find out the exact number. They often have Puerto Rican qualifications, but during the last 20 years when they broadened to European countries, there became increasing numbers of people with also Hispanic, Portuguese or Italian record members. As with many gangs there tend to be more male people than female.

Structure and Organization

Both, men and women, are permitted to become a member at the Latin Kings and Queens Land has, as the name already says. They have a strict hierarchy and rules. It has always been important that the people have social tasks. Depending on how old they are they must have or search for a job or go to institution. Education on the whole is quite important to the country. That is why there are so called "schoolings". Knowledge staff are people whose careers focus on working with information and then for whom a certain theoretical and analytical knowledge is important. Knowledge "is not tied to any country - it is portable" and represents might, an average LK ambition.

They should also be enthusiastic about their ethnic qualifications and genealogy and free or hard drugs to have the ability to mainly focus on their responsibilities in the country and not to move down the other participants. You can find three phases of social responsibilities a member runs threw when he decides to be a Latin Ruler:

Primitive Stage: the King warrior serves very impulsive. Most of his time he does indeed gang banging (engaging gang activities) or getting high.

The Traditional or "Mummy" Stage: The member doesn't want to be on the roads and gets tired of being seen as big and bad. He gets hitched and retires.

The New Ruler Level: The member views himself as a "new King", meaning he starts to recognize that enough time of revolution is his palm. When he becomes a fresh Ruler the will of the country becomes his will. Everything starts off to have a interpretation to him and he only lives for the nation.

They are well organized and known for his or her hierarchy. The control consists for example out of:

  • Supreme Crown Authorities
  • Executive Crown Specialists and
  • Local Presidents in their individual prisons and communities. They are responsible for a particular area.

Furthermore there are "officers" or leaders, the so called Incas that are each supported by a Crown Council of seven participants. The gang's brain is the so called "Corona" which means "Crown". He is able to decide practically everything, but is, of course, also sensible for every activity outside prison. In those days Gino Gustavo Colon is the first choice of the Latin Kings.

Rules

Because of the strict hierarchy they want, as stated before, strict rules. You can find ones for each part of their live. They can be written in their "bible", which is called the "King's Manifesto". For example they have guidelines how to communicate with other gang people. . A few public rules are:

"A sibling never crosses his left his right arm, he never includes his right hands, because it signifies his crown. No member should take the law into his own hands, he isn't allowed to exploit any person inside or beyond your nation, when a member offers another member a salute it always should be returned. "

That rules tend to be highly ritualistic.

Due compared to that the Latin Kings are extremely religious. They have confidence in Kingism, which includes their entire system. However they also have confidence in Yahweh, god, "the almighty daddy, King of all Kings". He's also called the El of the Universe. A non religious LK you will discover very rarely. The Nation says that also their name is an acronym and shows their devotion to Yahweh. "Almighty" means:

"A love assessed in great tranquility toward Yahweh"

In their Manifesto there are not only regulations, but also prayers. You can find 2 prayers initially; one is named the holy prayer. They think that Yahweh is the creator of the world, of the Manifesto and the Kingism. This opinion should give them faith in themselves. The Latin Kings say that there surely is a heaven and a heart that will meet Yahweh after death. In fact it has a great similarity to the Christian and Jewish believe.

What Kingism exactly is does indeed only an associate of the Latin Kings and Queens Region know. They may have certain Kings, but if they're holy, imaginary persons or real historical characters, isn't clear.

Punishments

When an associate does not stick to that rules he gets punished by his acquaintances. Besides physical abuse it includes interpersonal exclusion and group harming. Their application varies in level and rate of recurrence weather from the Chicago or New Yorker Head. They have ha few different guidelines and their execution also depends on the first choice. A non-physical abuse can be prohibition, which varies between 14 days and 2 month. Others can be fines, being isolated and so on and so forth. But, as everything in their lives, they also have strict rules for physical punishments. You will find:

"three-minute physicals", as the name already clarifies - three participants punish for three minutes

"five-point violations", meaning there are 5 associates of the authority that punish the sufferer (they are a symbol of the 5 tips of the crown) or even

T. O. S. It stands for Terminate on View which is a death penalty.

The reasons for this previous brutal action are treason, challenging a authority or unfortunately just homosexuality.

Symbols and Rituals

As every gang they may have specific colors you see on almost all their logos and tattoos. In this case they are black and yellow. The dark color represents fatality and stands in contrary to the light one, which symbolizes life. They aren't only included in their symbols, but also on the cloth.

Their emblem is usually five directed, e. g. a celebrity, a crown (sometimes worn by the lion) or other things that shows this quantity. Their latest emblem is the bulldog with a crown. You are able to say that the number "five" is "holy" to them, because they often utilize it in their viewpoint.

The LKs are known for their drawings and graffiti paintings. They use symbols such as A. L. K. Q. N (Almighty Latin King & Queen Region), A. L. K. Q. C. N (Charter Land), A. D. R (Amor Deu Rei - Love the Kings), weapons, Coat of hands, money or cars. They indication places with graffiti where a gang member has dropped. In the graffiti the deceased person's ID-Number is shown, his/her name and the night out of the fatality. If another gang is responsible for his/her fatality an ugly symbol of this gang is decorated with what "Lollypop" as a putdown for the gang.

A very important things to them is to figure out how to control their tongue. They assume that talking about the control of the tongue is dealing with the complete body. That's what they would like to learn. Because of this it's not possible for the police to uncover their criminal activities - they can be faithful to their colleagues. Newspapers discuss special rituals to teach themselves.

Criminal Activities

The LK's are known for not just using but also retailing weapons. High rating people often wear bullet proof vests, for their foes. Every member owns a weapon plus they do not always take them with them when they are on post. It's very hard to get information from them, because they're that faithful with their group. However, their principal source of income is coping with drugs, such as cocaine, heroin and pot.

The internet is filled with tales about Latin Kings and their legal activities including burglary, homicide, personal information theft and money laundering. Apparently also the authorities are corrupted. In 2011 two policemen possessed arrested drug retailers for fake, needed their drugs and offered their proceeds to the Latin Kings. Information of the Chicago Police force say that they find about 150 kilograms cocaine and 1000 kilogram weed per annum in the Latin Kings' region.

Their Competitor Gangs will be the Latin Locos, Folk Nation gangs and the Solidos.

Latin Queens

Originally there have been no female members allowed. Nowadays women get an equal share. They constituted, in addition to the male Kings, a few Queens. They join the gang for self-respect, independence, family support, cultural personal information and self-empowerment. Still they complete female stereotypical functions and stay at home, mainly running the household, while the male customers are struggling with on the roadways or interacting with drugs. They have a home life of security.

Reason for Becoming a Gang Member

As I've discussed earlier a lot of women became associates to feel safer. But nonetheless the Latin Kings and Queens Country has more men participants. They have a whole lot of influence in the world and the black market. That would be the main reason people become participants. In New York or Chicago they are common and young people are seduced by their school of thought and might. They frequently come from cracked family members and want to find a new one.

Besides this it's you'll have no choice weather you desire to be a LK or not when your parents already sign up for them. Alternatively these kids was raised with the ideology of Kingism. They do not know any thing else. That is why the Latin Kings grow that fast.

Due to the life in poverty appears to be a lot easier when you're able to relate on your gang and know that they'll support you even in prison. And of course you will have usage of drugs and weapons, what favors young people the most.

My Opinion

When I started looking for information about the "Almighty Latin Kings and Queens Land" I thought they where just one out of thousand Latin American gangs. But when I explored more I came across their viewpoint really attractive. Kingism is not really a religion I would personally agree with but I came across it unusual that so many people follow that few market leaders and that there is such a strict hierarchy although everybody's discussing freedom. I wasn't amazed about their legal activities and the testimonies about neighborhood wars or corrupt policemen do not really impact me. I expected that.

Another think that was interesting is the fact that even though LKs are so popular and have even their "leaders" in jail it's very hard to determine information about them. I had to focus on facts, but the majority of the resources are inspired by the gang itself, which pressured me to learn even more about them to stay subjective.

A Latin King's Poem

"NOT A DAY GOES BY THAT PEOPLE DON'T REPRESENT

THROWING IN THE CROWN WITH ALL OUR LOVE

SHOUTING "AMOR DE REY" Right up until' WE DIE

TO THE ALMIGHTY Dad UP ABOVE

BUSTING OUT IN OUR HOOD'S

KEEPING THE LOVE ALIVE

NEVER Making FLAKES DISRESPECT OUR EMBLEMS

THAT WE MADE OUT OF SO MUCH PRIDE

BUT AS ALL THIS IS HAPPENING

WE ARE GETTING STRONGER AND STRONGER

EACH DAY Enjoying SHORTIES JOIN

AND OLDER Children RETIRE THEIR FLAG

BUT AS ONE KING DROP HIS FLAG

THERE CAN BE A SHORTY TO PICK IT UP

AS THE OLDER Guys Go THAT FLAG

FROM A VINTAGE HAND TO A FRESH ONE

HE GIVES HIM SOME Smart ADVISE

"KEEP THIS FLAG INSIDE YOUR HEART AND NEVER LET IT DIE"

"RESPECT AND HONOR THIS CROWN FOR IT I ONCE Have"

"DIE BECAUSE OF THIS CROWN AS OTHER KINGS /QUEENS Do"

"EVER HAVE A BRO OR SIS NAME THAT DIED WITH RESPECT

NOT UNLESS YOU'RE WILLING TO DIE LIKE HE / SHE DID

LIKE A TRUE Ruler / QUEEN DIES IN THE BATTLE FIELD"

REMEMBER THOSE WHO DIED,

GO WITH THEIR GRAVE AND SHED NO TEARS

BRING THEM SOME BIG ASS Blossoms,

TELL THEM THAT THEY CAN DIDN'T DIED IN VAIN!!!!

DEDICATED TO THOSE WHO DIED AND THE ONES WHO PASSED

THE CROWN FROM ALSO TO HAND AND THE ONES WHO STILL

KEEP THE LOVE ALIVE. . . "
