Freud is Certainly not Sexist

Many feminist experts have identified Freud to become an active power in Victorian gender national politics that assert women's inferiority. His attitudes towards women, as mirrored in his psychoanalyses, consciously reveal the patriarchal assumptions of Victorian world, but subconsciously reject male or female roles and stereotypes about women. Freud is consequently complicit in accepting sexist perceptions of girls, but is not a perpetrator who attempts to entrench patriarchy by representing women because inferior. Since Freud can be described as victim of the prevalent stereotypes of society, feminist authorities are unwarranted in characterizing him while an instigator of woman degradation. Somewhat, his skewed perceptions reflect the male-chauvinist beliefs of his natural environment and affects. Freud's human relationships with his girl patients indicate that he simultaneously identifies with and fails to figure out women. In identifying with women individuals, Freud shows concern to get the fundamental causes of internal affliction, particularly the constricting nature of gender roles. This fixation with the female complaint can be exemplified particularly by Freud's dream of Irma and his case study of Etika, two recalcitrant female patients who will not accept his theories. Freud's failure to completely understand his female patients, however , signifies that this individual has begun to question patriarchal assumptions by simply realizing that satisfaction of stereotypically female functions leaves girls unfulfilled. However, he has not acted upon this realization as they consciously recognizes women throughout the clouded zoom lens of Victorian bias.
