Euthanasia Is Not A REMEDY For Pain And Hurting Philosophy Essay

Euthanasia also called assisted suicide has been one of the very most discussed and controversial issue surrounding the world. It's the act of ending someone's life for individuals who suffer from painful diseases. According to the Oxford Fajar Dictionary, it is defined as a "gentle and painless loss of life for a person suffering from incurable diseases. " In any other case, it is actually a "good fatality" which usually referenced as "merciful killing" (El-Haggan, 1997) Regarding to Johansen (2001), the key classification of euthanasia is voluntary and involuntary euthanasia. Voluntary euthanasia is conducted with consent whereby the patient's submission that action to be taken to end their life. Therefore, it is fatality of the patient with the full acknowledgement of the patient themselves. In contrast, involuntary euthanasia is the work of stopping a life with no consent of the patients themselves. It usually occurres when the patients are too vulnerable or unable to communicate like vegetative or coma patients. Your choice is usually made for the individual by the ones who are strongly related to the patient. It is were clear that both types of euthanasia have a definite line between each other (Johansen, 2001). On the other hand, Johansen (2001) stated that when the work of euthanasia is ready to be completed, doctors might use several ways to get rid of a patient's life. You will find two procedural types of euthanasia which are passive and active euthanasia. Passive euthanasia is thought as detachment of treatment deliberately which caused the death of the patient (Johansen, 2001). For instance: the doctors detach any life sustaining machine such as dialysis machine or respirator that help the patient to survive. On the other hand, effective euthanasia is the function of getting rid of with specific steps should be taken to get rid of the patient's life such as lethal injections by the doctors. They are the few basic definition of euthanasia that has been taken until today. "Over the last few decades, we've heard lots of rights emerged such as the right to health, to privacy, to dance naked and now the to die. " (Kass, 2004). Questions arise as to the reasons there is a right to something that is unavoidable for human beings. Does which means that that humans will be immortal (Kass, 2004)? The question is no I perhaps. Euthanasia has been applied for centuries to benefit visitors to avoid their fear of tremendous pain and hurting; however, many people are unaware that euthanasia can actually bring more injury than good and it should not be legalized inside our country.

Proponents to the action of euthanasia mentioned that everyone gets the right to choose what is best for them. They have mentioned a few factors to support the function of euthanasia. First of all, Kass (2004) claimed that they are fear of painful diseases and prolong dying process by the continuity of the medical treatment. With the progress in technology, many powerful life sustaining machines and medical treatments help to extend their life. These terminally ill patients voiced out that the ongoing of medical treatment brings more fighting physically and emotionally. Physically in the sense that the pain to get countless treatment injections and the side ramifications of the treatment; such as balding. In addition, mentally, it is agonizing for them to face their family because they became a burden on their family especially for those people with financial problem. Therefore, these items move them forward of hoping themselves to die with dignity. It can help to avoid further anguish rather than to be discriminated by the others. They need not need to beg for suitable kidney for a transplant. They want not need to expire like pets gasping because of their last breath of air (El-Haggan, 1997). Although I could understand these items of views, I have to disagree. Radtke (2005) suggested that the patients have cured euthanasia for a better pain management, which is not a right way to take action. Furthermore, humans should always work their way toward better life, not the best way to end it. Matching to Radtke (2005), serious illness and disability of a person are statically getting the most chances to have the sense of suicide. That is especially during the early amount of the condition which strikes them psychologically in a brief period of your energy. However, all this will need time to recover. The first couple of years might be the most depressing time for them in order to adapt themselves in normal living life (Radtke, 2005). An identical case was found during my research from a person named Richard Radtke. He had a peaceful life until he realized that he previously disease of multiple sclerosis (MS) and trigeminal neuralgic. These diseases have regarded as one of the worst pain that can be believed to man. Radtke (2005) explained that the pain will not react to morphine and he previously to have a whole new series of medication. Things acquired a whole lot worse when his partner left him because of the disease. That was 20 years ago; he managed to overcome this difficult period of his life and became more powerful than ever. With his persistence and persistence, he's living gladly now along with his second wife and pleased that he did not make the decision for assisted suicide (Radtke, 2005). If the legalization of assisted suicide is approved inside our country, we will eventually lose a lot of people who can change lives like Richard Radtke. If that is the case, everyone begins hastening their death after they know they may be in pain. Therefore, we have to start effort on working a pain management for them rather than aiding these to hasten loss of life because euthanasia is not the solution for pain and suffering (Radtke, 2005).

Opponents of the legalization of euthanasia declare that tendency for human abusing the protection under the law of euthanasia is very high. It is because human have a tendency to take advantage when they receive freedom to do a specific act (El-Haggan, 1997). Actually, it quite definitely exists. For example, divorce rates have risen to 600% following the authorization of "no-fault-divorce" in Canada 30 years ago (Rotheisler, 1997). Supporters of the act of euthanasia protect the point declaring that specific regulations can be set up to regulate the misuse of euthanasia. Furthermore, rules and techniques should be emphasized before any form of euthanasia can occur. For example, the patient's condition should be stated clearly in a specific record and must be assessed by other doctors to get approval for euthanizing the patient. Hence, the function of euthanasia can be recognized whether it is very necessary to do it. Moreover, the federal government will take stern action towards doctors or any job that was found abusing the work of euthanasia. Even so, this will not help to solve the challenge. Fenigsen (1989) explained the particular one of the nice types of a country which euthanasia is very much abused is Netherlands. At the start, euthanasia is only allowed to be done on terminally ill patients that provided their consent; this is recognized as voluntary euthanasia. Later on, they legalized euthanasia on involuntary patients, only to those who are too weak connecting such as coma. It is heading worse as now euthanizing the depressed patient is legalized. Hence, the act of euthanasia is increasing over time until today (Fenigsen, 1989). El-Haggan (1997) stated that is a situation which the work of euthanasia comes under the "slippery slope" theory. It really is a situation whereby once the act of a particular action occurs; it could give rise to other problems or aggravate the condition. Therefore, it isn't wrong even for me to predict that 1 day they will start by euthanize mentally retarded patient to prospects who cannot afford to cover the treatment. Hence, it should be approved in our country because it is impossible for modern culture to return to the initial state once they fall in to the slippery slope.

Advocates of the act of euthanasia argued that assisted suicide is not incorrect in conditions of morality. Actually, it is morally right. A moral person is one who conducts good value in life without doing bad or harm to anyone. Furthermore, morality is based on the quantity of happiness and fighting that may be acquired by almost all. With the function of euthanasia, it is morally right since it can help reduce fighting for an individual who is terminally sick. Why extend the dying process when it offers so much of hurting? Therefore, euthanasia can help lessen their pain and hurting. Moreover, it can benefit to save essential resources in a healthcare facility which can help save other patients who have higher survivability rate. Not just that, healthy organs from the euthanized patient can be donated to others who in need for a transplant. Therefore, their fatality will be more meaningful and it'll not be considered a waste material. Hence, it is morally right structured utilitarianism theory. It is because euthanasia can help provide greater joy than struggling to many people. However, opponents to the function of euthanasia state governments that helped suicide violates the society's norm even it provides greater delight (El-Haggan, 1997). It is because the take action of euthanasia is also a kind of murder or killing to end another human's life. Moreover, helped suicide is also wrong is all religious teachings. For instance, Buddhist and Hindu teachings mentioned that the function of aided suicide interrupt the death and rebirth cycle which causes a terrible karma (Jayaram, 2010). Additionally, it is a serious offence since it violates the guidelines of the faith and life is treated as commendable and precious. Alternatively, Christianity is strongly against euthanasia. It is because life is created by God which is created in God's image (Anonymous, 2009). In addition, the natural procedure for death shouldn't be interrupted. Overall, spiritual teaching stated that the work of killing or suicide is prohibited. Other than that, fighting is a period in human's life. Within the individual world, everyone has stress and issues in life. When we able to triumph over a problem, it does make us stronger each and every time and more capable to handle our next challenges. Therefore, if we are fated to be infected with lethal diseases, we should fight until the very end because life is valuable and precious.

All in every, I must concur that the act of euthanasia shouldn't be legalized in our country. El-Haggan (1997) stated that contemporary society should see euthanasia as a downfall rather than a popular tendency. Even though, euthanasia can help certain types of men and women to minimize the amount of suffering, whether it's mentally or in physical form, we have to not take this as our method for pain (El-Haggan, 1997). In contrast, they must look for pain management alternatives that quite definitely exist today such as counselor and psychologist. In addition, humans must do their best to save one's life rather than ways to end them especially to any profession in the medical field

(El-Haggan, 1997). It really is morally wrong if we overlook the patient's fighting and move on. However, it is a remedy that can create a whole new group of problems in a nation, society and the country. Therefore, it is certainly fair to state that the legalization of euthanasia is not really a right response that should be conducted inside our country.
