Essay over a Comparison of Paradox in Criminal offenses and Treatment and A Doll's Home

Use of Irony in Criminal offense and Consequence and A Doll's Property

There are many backlinks between Offense and Treatment, by Fyodor Dostoyevsky and A Doll's House, by Henrik Isben. Each personality goes through various ironic circumstances. Throughout both these styles the functions dramatic, situational, and mental irony are used.

Dramatic paradox is used during Crime and Punishment. Someone knows that Rodion Romanovitch Raskolnikov killed the pawnbroker, Alyona Ivanovna, and her sis, Lizaveta Ivanovna. A quote to support this is certainly

"He got the axe right away, swung it up in both hands, barely aware of what having been doing, and almost without efforts, almost work, almost by artificial means, brought the butt than it down on the old woman's mind. " (Dostoyevsky 114)

Nobody in the new knows who also killed the pawnbroker and her sibling except for Raskolnikov. The police official, Porfiry Petrovitch, suspects that Raskolnikov killed the pawnbroker and her sister nevertheless he are not able to prove that.

The reader also knows that Luzhin puts money in Sofya Semyonovna Marmeladov's pocket when she's not seeking. After Sofya, whose play name is Sonia, finishes conversing with Luzhin the lady leaves. Sonia has no concept that Luzhin has put cash into her pocket. Raskolnikov's friend, Andrei Semyonovitch Lebezyatnikov, was present when all of that takes place. "All of this was observed simply by Andrei Semyonovich. " (Dostoyevsky 460) Luzhin goes to a reception to get Sonia's father, Semyon Zakharovitch Marmeladov, and announces that Sonia is a thief. Sonia immediately denies the accusation. Luzhin tells her to look in her pocket. Affirmed the money that he was absent was there. Luzhin wants Sonia to marry him but the girl does not love him. Luzhin plans to blackmail Sonia into marrying him. Votre...

... ire. Nora is just stating which the temperature inside the house is hot. Nora then gets up and, "Shuts the door with the stove and moves the rocking-chair aside. " (Isben 15)

All types of irony are being used throughout the two works. Criminal offenses and Abuse and A Doll's Home would be imperfect without irony. Irony takes on an important position in any type of literary works. Irony is used to help demonstrate opposite of what is in fact said and/or done. I think that with out irony there is no literature. I think that literature can be boring and plain if there was simply no irony to boost its inspiration and creativity.
