The County colleges sports scene has been around for quite some time. In these years, the emphasis on sports and achievements within our schools is continuing to grow tremendously. Beginning with just of sixteen sports, the County Schools Sports Authorities now oversees 28 sports activities. This progress has a couple of noticeable results not only on schools nevertheless also on our student athletes. The need to compete, to win and also to lift the championship can be seen on the face of each athlete that steps on to the playing field. Various would admit this is a strength of your school sporting activities scene because each individual aims for quality. On the flip side, we all cannot deny the fact which the pressures to create glory to oneself plus the school they represent have grown many retracts.
The function of an athlete in any game situation is definitely psychologically requiring (Miller, 2001). Some sportsmen thrive pressurized while some just succumb to pressure. From credit scoring a penalty during a penalty shoot-out in soccer to making a casino game winning free of charge throw in field hockey, sports competitions are filled with pressure and sometimes this pressure causes athletes to experience detrimental performances since shown by Baumeister (1984) and Professionals (1992) wherever they pointed out that bad performance could be attributed to increased pressure.
When ever teams or perhaps athletes perform well and outdo themselves, they can be given a hero's position and are acknowledged but when they perform desperately, falter with the crucial moments or expense their clubs or themselves the win, they are really at times subjected to embarrassment, ridicule and an enormous drop in morale. As mentioned by Mesagno & Mullane-Grant (2010), this sort of athletes who crumble pressurized experience the humiliating phenomenon of "choking under pressure".
