For more than 1000 years, a history of the Western european continent offers involved, mainly, war. Possibly since prior to most of the European countries could call themselves that, their main policies had been militaristic in nature and focused on the acquisition of land and power. Though at first this may include seemed like an excellent plan, (probably because every single empire or perhaps kingdom thought it would succeed in conquering each of the known world, ) the nationalistic ambition and overall hostility multiplied, as instantly, Europe discovered itself with dozens of new nations. Each new turmoil caused an additional series of border disputes, brutal battles, financial warfare, and many others, and at instances the balance of power was non-existent. In order to combat this problem, the leaders of the key European countries, who had tried creating unions like the European Coal and Metal Community, the EEC, and Euratom, chosen to unite virtually any European region who wants to participate in a union that will set up an effective stability, however on this occasion, it would incorporate social, personal, economic, scientific, humanitarian, environmental, and any other affairs they will dealt with (Nugent, 2). The creation with the European Union was thus meant to achieve prolonged stability by forming 1 body with several separate countries, and also to rid countries of personal interest simply by promoting upcoming progress overall.
The goals of the Eu, as identified in Article 2 in the Treaty on European Union, in order to promote cultural and financial progress, associated with a high level of employment, throughout the Union.
