The Great Gatsby is a novel about a character by the name of Jay Gatsby, who is preventing to get his favorite Daisy back by using his friend, Nick Daisys cousin from an arrogant fellow known as Tom. The novel is also a representation of the path to achieve the American Wish which is done through the character types, Tom and Gatsby. Tom and Gatsby have very similar beliefs. Gatsby is known as a high achiever, who throws exceptional parties hoping of being successful over Daisy. Gatsby sabotages Tom by attempting to achieve the American Aspiration because he is convinced in order to have the American Dream he will need to have possession of Daisy, whom is hitched to Tom. Western world Egg is a abundant inherited place where Nick remarks the storyline all started out. The West Egg is symbolic used to picture a place of many outstanding amenities like no other, but lacks the real interpretation of trust and companionship. Tom and Gatsby being unsure of this is of true a friendly relationship try to stick out and assert tenancy of the American Goal. With this in view, maybe it's said that Tom and Gatsby are both experiencing disloyalty and lack of real truth. They both deceive/take good thing about the ones near to them. For instance, Gatsby uses Nick to get nearer to Daisy, furthermore Tom also deceives Daisy by having an affair with Myrtle. That is controversially an outgoing problem in the novel, which becomes worse as it goes on. Tom and Gatsby live their lives believing that money is everything. As Benjamin Franklin once said, "Money hasn't made man happy, nor does it, there is nothing in its character to produce joy. The more from it one has the greater one desires. " (2) So the question is, could money possibly buy joy? Gatsby and Tom are arrogant characters who lack the aspects of true camaraderie, and honesty for their notion that money is the typical that the earth runs on.

Gatsby is an extremely diverse figure. He began from scuff and functioned his way up. He doesn't live in a concise area just as East Egg or NY but lives in West Egg where there are just the wealthy, the upper-class people on view. Gatsby once adored a girl known as Daisy before he went out to war a couple of years ago. He visited war with the thought that when he'd give back everything would fine. But little does he know that Daisy was not willing to hold back for him, and Daisy proceeded to go and got wedded with Tom just 5 time after the notice of Gatsby gone. This is the status of betrayal Gatsby experienced. Gatsby was not concerned about anything or any but Daisy, which threw him back. Gatsby resided his life as though every choice he made would continually be right regardless of what it could be on. For example in the novel when Gatsby mentioned to know for an undeniable fact that Gatsby was the one Daisy loved no matter what Tom had to say. Gatsby functioned his way up, however the surprising and disturbing part of this was that he was in charge of a bootlegging business he hosted. Gatsby is not an easy character there are numerous thing he will which make him look superior as well as things which make him look foolish. Like when he hosts these impressive, outgoing get-togethers, he remains himself screed but has his name transported as symbolic, he desires to cultivate. Gatsby uses the absence of having no trust and having less friendship to make all his fame, name, recognition, and reputation, look as a tale, when nobody involves his funeral. This as well show that no person even respected him, enough to even come to his funeral. Gatsby is also not trustworthy because he uses Nick who is one of the one people who actually helps him. Gatsby uses Nick to get to Daisy and knowing this Nick gets a lttle bit offended because he thought they were friends and he was just doing him a favour. The main goal Gatsby was actually striving to accomplish was the North american Wish which he got so close to but just couldn't understanding it. The reason he wasn't able to achieve the American Dream wasn't, for his incapability but it was for his arrogance as well as his inconsiderate self applied. Arrogance can be an offensive display of superiority or self-importance; overbearing satisfaction (2). He was portrayed as arrogant because he was always so overconfident along with his life, especially his money. Gatsby seemed to have become miscellaneous, before he passed away. He was so confident that she would opt for him over Tom, This is ironic considering after he felt so happy and confident that he would attain the North american Desire, he dies

Gatsby is very similar to Tom he's not dependable, he does not have many people he could look back again to count on. Gatsby and Tom have virtually identical beliefs in reality they both at one point resided in Western world Egg as well as all the rich, upper-class prosperous people. Gatsby and Tom have been striving to achieve the American Dream for a while but they appear to be attempting in different factors. Gatsby has everything but does not have base, a family group, and a place where he could call home. As well as Tom but he doesn't seem to really have the essential life-style, lacking the ability of trust, which neither of these are able to have, which is also a factor with their downfall with the woman they wanted to be with. Gatsby truly loves Daisy and wants to live his life with her but scheduled to his lack of a friendly relationship and trustworthiness, nobody but Nick is inclined to help. Nick is supporting Gatsby but that is much so because of how uninteresting and impractical his life is. Tom and Gatsby both live their life around their money. Gatsby expresses and brags about his prosperity and everything he has to make others feel hesitant to be around him. Tom has resided all his life around a wealthy compact neighbourhood so he's more proficient in the sense that he has more experience how to approach money. Unlike Gatsby who treats money as an asset rather less than it is actually worth, leading him to through enriched parties. Gatsby went through much more than Tom and continues to be living a relatively close life-style in comparison to the American Goal which is: a life of personal delight and material comfort as typically sought by individuals in the U. S(1).

Tom is a very complicated character as well. Tom is an extremely and yet the most interesting figure. He has all the characteristics he is mean, disrespectful, arrogant, but interestingly he changes when with Daisy and this is one of the reason why Daisy leans on towards Tom. Tom is informed to be very lovely and kind to Daisy, which is very ironic considering how he serves like he's the largest and the most mischief of them all. Tom is portrayed as a very rich character from the beginning, he is told to have a rich backdrop leading him to keep on from his parents who probably were also very near attaining the American Aspiration. Tom is not trustworthy or loyal to anyone really, which is also a factor that Gatsby has but differs with Tom. Tom is instead, very grouchiest when anything becomes personal. For instance at the party when Tom broke his girlfriend, Myrtle's nose, when she stated Daisy to him. Tom became very tempest when she performed so. Tom is also known as a ruthless racist persona. That is so because Tom has taken up racist commentary many times even though most of them would be white, like in the hotel in Ney York, and Jordan reminded Tom that they were all white no person was a different ethnicity. Tom is shown as a figure who once lived in Western world Egg which means that he must be abundant. The difference between him and Gatsby is that Tom changed to East Egg and began to become more associated with the surrounding unlike Gatsby who keeps in Western Egg where there is hardly anyone around.

Tom and Gatsby live similar lifestyles but they also provide differences as well. Tom and Gatsby are really different in the sense of life-style techniques. Tom and Gatsby have in common that they both want something the other has even though, Tom wishes Gatsby's yellowRolls' Royce. This is advised when Tom ask Gatsby to borrow his car, on the other hand Gatsby desires Daisy, who Tom views as his own, and this sometimes appears throughout the complete e book with the parties Gatsby throws to impress Daisy. As well as the rest of the things he does indeed for her, like buying her stuff. Both Tom and Gatsby think money can buy everything. Tom unlike Gatsby uses racial slurs and comments to specify people. That is also yet another way they vary. Tom is very racist and sexist against women, while Gatsby is kind-hearted and happy to give. Money is also an enormous aspect in the novel. When Gatsby and Tom were talking to each other, Gatsby was about to say something about Daisy's tone of voice when Tom interrupted by declaring it's like it's full of money (3). This makes the audience think. Maybe Tom doesn't want Daisy after all and was after the money the complete time, and today the reality 'inadvertently, eventually came out. As Benjamin Franklin once said, "Money hasn't made man happy, nor does it, there is nothing at all in its dynamics to produce joy. The more of it one has the more one desires. " (2) This price makes one think does indeed money actually even suggest anything, if it can then what? To Tom it supposed everything, including a vacation to the American Dream. As for Gatsby it meant an asset to get o Daisy which also eventually led to the success of the American Dream which neither of these were able to achieve do to all there imperfections.

In summary, Tom and Gatsby were similar and at the same time differed in many ways. Tom and Gatsby were both after the same goal to get the American Dream but regrettably they both were unsuccessful. Tom and Gatsby live life living as money is the thing they would dependence on survival not being conscious of all the potential issues and problems that they might face. Tom and Gatsby live with despicable characteristics, resulting in be one of the reason why to their flaw and the death of Gatsby. Gatsby was too anxious, he'd have eventually ended up with Daisy but he began to rush the partnership resulting in his downfall. The difference between Tom and Gatsby is the fact that Tom overcomes his flaws and Gatsby gets later and pays the purchase price with death.
