Analysis of Competition and Happiness by Theodor Isaac Rubin Dissertation

There are contests all over the world. Just about everywhere we get, people are competing against the other person. Does competition bring joy to all of us or can it bring misery? According to Theodor Isaac Rubin coming from "Competition and Happiness, " competition brings out the worst in people. Rubin states that competition was passed on to us through training and generations. Rubin believes which it creates a stressful and paranoid atmosphere that is certainly contrasting to our peace of mind. To compliment his disagreement, Rubin informed us about the time when he was at medical institution, the atmosphere was relaxing rather than nerve-racking and competitive. I agree with Rubin, competition brings out the worst in individuals because competition can make persons more self-centered and intense, it can deteriorate their self-esteem, and makes that harder for those to accept support from others.

Tournaments are not just about fun and online games. For example , rivalling against a number of other students to get college classes can become extremely stressful. Previous quarter, my buddy was not in a position to get the classes she needed. This kind of made her very pressured because your woman needed certain classes in order to complete her major requirements on time. This kind of shows that residing in a place where competition is everywhere can be quite stressful. On top of that, passing all our classes having a C or more can be a competition for students too. Last 1 / 4, I was really stressed out pertaining to my Macroeconomic class. I believed I was likely to fail that class since I found the fabric difficult and the class by itself challenging. However, my friend whom also took that class with me believed it to be easy and performed very well. I had been really stressed out because We worked very difficult, but it did not reflect during my course quality. This reveals...

... jealousy and generate us think worse regarding ourselves.

Overall, there are many types of contests, but a lot of them do not provide people happiness. Although competition pushes individuals to work harder, people are better off without this. Competition can make people self-centered, aggressive, and jealous. It brings unhappiness to the person who does not wrap up the success, and produces more pressure between the competition. Competition can also turn a buddy into an enemy, because all they desire is to learn better than you. When it comes to schoolwork, they do not take the time to help their good friend with the course material because that they fear their very own friend can score greater than them. Persons will not help others whether it does not profit them in anyway. Therefore , I support Rubin's argument about how competition brings out the worst in people, and that competition does not present happiness.
