This research papers purpose is to understand the role of Mass media in Pakistan. Marketing is a giant firm in Pakistan, and is as free as any other press on the globe but could it be informative, engaging, or manipulative? Pakistan's media gives face to face competition to international multimedia. Advertising has been mentioned in two broader terms in this paper, News Programs and Play industry. I've pointed out how the mass media in both conditions has progressed overtime. My research essentially compares recent times with prior ones and discusses the social and cultural impact that marketing has over its visitors. I conducted a review to analyze what people from different age ranges and genders have to say about the advertising. The research of the questionnaire provides us with a much better and clear understanding concerning where our press currently stands.
It's the twenty-first century and everyone has not one but many television set packages in their homes. For this reason our advertising is a very important part of the lives. But is multimedia a way to obtain information, entertainment or manipulation? I am talking about two branches of advertising which are incredibly influential inside our society, news programs and our dilemma industry. Both have a multitude of channels. There are many news stations available with an enormous variety of spicy gossip politics talk shows. The popular ones are Geo, Exhibit, Dunya, Samaa and many more. There are various popular talk shows like Capital Converse, On leading, Live with Talat, Meray Mutabiq etc. The political conversation show format is to own people from different political people sit together and debate like illiterate people. What are they trying to show about Pakistan? These chat shows don't work with what kind of image these are portraying of Pakistan on the planet. They have forgotten their responsibilities of being "responsible" current affair providers. Media has been more dramatic instead of sincere, it has turned into a dusty business where media channels just contend with one another for who arrived first at the picture or who gave the spiciest gossip. The multimedia of Pakistan although quite strong are misusing their power and have become a mafia.
Our crisis industry is also growing swiftly, with many new dramas, more modernized and progress in culture. There are many drama channels present like Hum, Geo, ARY Digital and the newest one Urdu1. But it needs to be thought about, is the play industry flourishing or going to ashes? The 80's and 90's was a fantastic period for the Pakistani play industry with epic dramas like "Waris", "Tanhaiyan", "Dhoop Kinare" and "Alpha Bravo Charlie", these dramas were not only popular in Pakistan but also across the border in India as well. In addition but these dramas also exhibited the real culture of Pakistan. Today's dramas like "Humsafar", "Zindagi Gulzaar Hai", "Mera Naseeb", "Bilqees Kaur", "Kaafir" and many more, is quite popular but do they show the real Pakistani culture? They don't really, all they show is wealthy households with glamorous women wearing incorrect clothing. Where one woman is plotting up against the other and drinking alcohol has been shown openly! One thing that old dramas possessed which these dramas don't have is a moral!
What made me write regarding media
Talking about media channels, the primary time is from eight to ten pm, with all the current spicy converse shows. This is also once all the dramas are aired. So basically when the clock ticks eight pm, the elder male family want to watch the political conversation shows and everything the rest want to view the play. But nowadays even the elderly male associates want to watch dramas in the discussion shows as the discussion shows have become very monotonous, the same kind of controversy and format. Another reason that individuals don't want to view the discussion shows is because the typical and quality of the shows has been reduced. Fractured dialect is used which is highly unacceptable. Gone are those days when proper Urdu and British were spoken on PTV. Now slang is used which is considered cool. Our young generation doesn't even really know what proper Urdu sounds like, though it is our national and first dialect. The usage of Hindi words is quite typical which is very upsetting for us, sometimes very abusive and derogatory dialect can be used to suppress each other. There is absolutely no proper code of conduction for these types of shows. It's an insult that these shows are aired internationally and are critically undermining Pakistan's image. India has so many communal issues however they portray their image as "Shinning and Multi-colored India", but our advertising shows all the negative areas of the country. No person depends on these shows any more, they know it's all a hoax and everything for the evaluations.
Coming to dramas, we can not exactly make certain whether the crisis industry has revived favorably or negatively. It really is true that some of the recent dramas are extremely good, especially "Meri Zaat Zara e Benishan" and "Humsafar" which were also aired internationally, but are they really portraying our true culture? Displaying wealthy households and their life styles, this is merely 10% in our society. Nobody shows what happens in the centre or lower category. Every hit theatre is that theatre which ultimately shows the wealthy people. It has turned into a trend that people only like these type of dramas, and somehow they get very motivated by the life styles they show. Another issue is the dialect issue which I mentioned earlier. It really is surprising i learned many proper Urdu words after watching "Waris" and "Tanhaiyan", dramas these days use slang and loose language, whether it can be English or Urdu. Dramas are also demonstrating vulgar things such as youngster dating and alcohol is shown openly! Do these suppliers and directors have any proven fact that when these dramas are shown overseas what kind of a direct effect they leave on those visitors. Currently a new scenario has appear where the Pakistani actors and actresses are condemning the Turkish dramas which have been translated into Urdu and has been aired in the primary time which is eight pm. They state these dramas are intimidating the sovereignty of your local dramas. Because if people like enjoying Turkish dramas over Pakistani dramas then your industry would be under menace. Talking to Daily Times, Samina Ahmad said, "By dubbing Spanish and Turkish soaps in Urdu and getting them into Pakistan these are competing our own dilemma industry and destroying it. The Turkish soaps are not only a menace to the country's episode industry but also to your culture. "
She said, "Bringing overseas dubbed content is cheating and injustice with our own Urdu play industry. If things go like this then the day is not so far when our very own Pakistani celebrities will be jobless. We had confronted Indian dramas for a fairly long time and also have not eliminated that properly yet but another foreign content had been helped bring here to be competitive our own local production and to ruin Pakistani industry, " Samina further said. Mirza, A. (2012, Dec 19). Daily Times. Television set Painters protest against Turkish, Spanish soaps. They provided the argument that these dramas are displaying vulgar things which are not a part of the Pakistan culture, like alcohol use and revealing clothing of the females. Someone should give them a reality be sure these things are being shown openly inside our dramas. Late night parties, liquor and uncovering clothes were shown in "Band Khirkiyon Kay Peechay" that was aired on Television set One. Children were shown in an exclusive late night get together in "Ghaao" which is currently being aired on Geo Television. Rather than protesting they should have seen their own dramas first. The new dramas have disturbing topics just like a young female marrying an older man, a man having an affair with his sister-in-law and etc. The type of deeds are they hoping to promote in our culture? It wouldn't be incorrect to say that instead of providing entertainment it is manipulating the minds of our young technology.
I got a survey from arbitrary people varying in generation and from different genders to discover what they think about our media and whether their opinion fits mines or not.
Here is an example of my questionnaire

Even though the survey was taken from age group which range from 19-65 all came upon one view that media in the form of political talk shows is manipulating and misguiding the general public, the dilemma industry is also promoting vulgarity and immoral deeds rather than our cultural values. Many people agree to the fact that Pakistani marketing is responsible for the bad image and disappointment among Pakistani people. Media has been more dramatic instead of genuine, it has become a dusty business where media channels just compete with each other for who came first at the scene or who provided the spiciest gossip. The press of Pakistan although quite strong are misusing their electric power. They have become mafia and threaten politicians for the money. The international image of Pakistan has also been ruined because of our own marketing exaggerating on bad reports; they never show the positive side of Pakistan. Our play industry is also getting "modernized" in terms of vulgar clothing and dialogues. They are simply promoting more of the american culture rather than our own Pakistani eastern culture. The usage of proper Urdu terminology has also been reduced. This should be considered that dramas are extremely influential on young technology as well as middle aged audience, therefore the drama industry should retain in brain our moral prices when making a play.
The view of public matches mine. The news press is promoting more sensationalism instead of research based information. They exploit the visitors by promoting themselves as the most authentic and swift news providers. In addition they give misleading headlines, they are often uncertain about the news but just to be the first ones to provide the breaking reports they provide ambiguous headlines which they later have to improve. A recent finding that we made was that the word "Zaraye" which is given next to the breaking media is actually a name for an undiscovered source! Therefore this proves that these media programs give unauthentic news. As we realize that special information will be the crux of the news channel because they are issues which deal with the standard resident of Pakistan, such as people living in the villages and the lower class living in huge towns like Karachi, Lahore etc. most of these reports are stunts! It's been seen by lots of the general public these news channels setup a place where they pay visitors to make riots and they show this as their special report in regards to what is happening in Pakistan. Every information is not a breaking news, when will these reports stations realize this and stop exaggerating different happenings to be able to get the highest ratings? The thing our news programs are good at is promoting scandalous and dramatized news, many people say these conversation shows shown on news channels tend to be more dramatic and entertaining than the dramas themselves. The feminine hosts wear extremely attractive clothing, the time of Zia-ul-Haq was good as he forced all the female anchorpersons to pay their heads as per Islamic customs, but these days everything has been modernized. There is absolutely no accountability of the phony information which is given by these news stations by Pakistan Electronic Marketing Regulatory Power (PEMRA). It is very disappointing as this greatly problems Pakistan's image in the international marketing.
The play industry is also a great issue in Pakistan as much of the viewers try to duplicate what is taking place in these crisis serials. Without doubt that some of the serials were excellent such as "Humsafar" but how about the rest? The only thing they show is a gorgeous lifestyle. You will discover no boundaries from what they are exhibiting. Alcohol consumption and using in appropriate clothing is not really a part of our culture as this can be an Islamic country and I believe that Pakistani women will be the most conservatively outfitted women in the world after Saudi Arabian women. In the 80's and 90's we had some blockbuster dramas like "Waris", "Tanhaiyaan", "Dhoop Kinare" and many more, these dramas weren't only respectable but also showed the true culture and lifestyle of Pakistani people. These dramas addressed various important issues of your society in a very appropriate manner. They were popular without having to be glamorous. There is no check and balance on this content shown by these dramas. Painters from our episode industry protested against Turkish dramas expressing that those dramas are socially unacceptable and undesirable for the traditional visitors of Pakistan because they showed alcohol and wide open dressing. These musicians and artists included senior performers such as Samina Ahmad and Asif Raza Mir, someone must open their eyes and show them that these things are also being shown inside our own dramas, so they haven't any to blame the Turkish dramas. "Fatmagul" is a Turkish play which happens to be being shown on Urdu1, that drama addresses a very sensitive issue of every culture which is rape. The crisis is not attractive as it shows battling middle-class villagers. They are very respectable with this issue and have not shown any unacceptable content. It is therefore totally wrong to protest against them, if indeed they do endanger our play industry, as said by Samina, then we have to probably start making better quality dramas. Our dramas are demonstrating vulgar things which are not according to the mind-set of the viewers. The politics instability is also leading to a great deal of tension among the Pakistani citizens, in these times we need light and humorous dramas instead of serious dramas where people plot against each other.
Media is without doubt participating in a great role in politics and entertainment, but they are misusing their electricity. In terms of news programs, they are employing their powers to control the political gatherings by intimidating them. They aren't at all genuine with the general public and whatever they show in their programs is merely a politics stunt. They are really always competing with one another on who reached first to give the breaking media and on who has the most glamorized girl anchorperson. In addition they exaggerate the news headlines and make it look ten times more than it really is. They try to offer more money to each other's anchors. They have made this a soiled business instead of realizing their responsibility of providing accurate and true information to the visitors. A couple of things are worth focusing on to these reports channels, power and evaluations of the programs. Due to these news programs the image of Pakistan has been ruined internationally. Other countries make an effort to hide their defects and give their best image internationally, but our advertising thinks nothing at all of the type.
Talking about the theatre industry, they feel that by becoming "modern" and much more "open" they are advancing towards a better future. They need to stop and think that whatever they may be displaying in their dramas is leading to an extremely negative impact on our young era. These dramas have promoted the concept of girl and youngster friendships and going out with. As an Islamic country these things are not a part of our culture and therefore should not be a part of our dramas. There's a very thin line between modern and vulgar. Being modern doesn't imply wearing incorrect clothing and promoting smoking and alcoholic beverages use. Therefore our press needs to awaken and realize the type of inappropriate content these are showing. Also rather than showing dramas which can be serious and only show people plotting against each other, we are in need of funny dramas to lighten our spirits.
