After efficiently gained admission to review for my doctoral program at Greenwich Institution of Management London (GSML) - one of the recognised institutions in the United Kingdom (UK). I've set up an individual Development Plan (PDP) that will improve my personal and professional Skills that happen to be required in conference organisational and my personal goals. If the PDP is well executed and well watched; it should assist in improving and develop new skills that will tackle problems associated with my research subject, improve my communication skills also to make a good value common sense, improve my leadership and managerial skills, and improve skills that will meet future challenges and enhance occupations.
When planning my PDP, I allowed objectivity to prevail in assessing my skills which helps me to come up with clear personal skills audit and then developed a straightforward action plan. In addition, it helps me to identify my true characteristics of learning style. The PDP was assessed on regular basis to reflect on my own development needs and then assessed the improvement that I have achieved currently by contrasting it with focus on goals. The PDP was divided into three phases; brief, medium and long term goals so that I can easily evaluate the extent to that i develop my own skills and achieved my goals.
PDP is a process of writing a brief clear plan that sketches out a person's plan probably for a year to be able to assess (power and weakness), to build up skills that require development and evaluate progress in line with targeted goals. For PDP to be effective, it must meet personal development cycle: state the purpose for development; perform personal skills audit to identify the areas (skills) that need development; formulate action plan that cover the needed skills; record and screen all the activities entail; and review and evaluate the progress consistent with targeted goals.
Personal skills audit is an activity of sincere recognition and evaluation of someone's advantages, weaknesses and areas for development. The final results of my personal skills audit are mentioned below:
Computer software skills
Information seeking skills
Communication skills (verbal and writing skills)
Numerical and Analytical skills
Selecting and Training the required staff

The Personal Development Plan has helped me to realize my learning style as well as how to exploit my potentials. Many Educationists realized that people learn in several ways and we are able to assimilate information and respond to training basic on our learning style. One broadly appropriate categorization of different learning styles is the fact that provided by Honey and Mumford which identify four different characters with quite different preferred learning styles; the Activist, the Pragmatist, the Reflector and the Theorist. Diagnostic testing exist to determine which learning style is best suited for us and also to help us develop an action plan to develop our learning skills.
After transferring through the four learning style checks, I came to the realization that I am pragmatic in nature-Pragmatist but likewise have some instinct of Activist in my own lifestyle. Explanations and descriptors of the Pragmatist were explained below:
A pragmatist is a useful person who loves to solve problems. They enjoy experimenting to boost techniques. They frequently come up with the answer to an issue. Their only affinity for theories is to be seen if indeed they work used. They dislike situations where there is no clear, practical come.
They are anticipated to make useful decisions
Timescales are tight
They must (quickly) find improved ways to do things
Learning from proven good practice
Learning from good examples and the know-how of others
They are expected to plan the next step.
Pragmatists will particularly benefitfrom training which involves simulations and circumstance studies.
They are anticipated to come up with new ideas themselves
The functional relevance of what they are doing is unclear
They are expected to work out why a technique works (i. e. think about it)
A Pragmatistsis constantly looking for the most effective way to open a offer. Whilst starting their presents they'll enjoy tinkering with different methods of unwrapping.
After critical personal development plan with objectivity, I have in a position to understand my dynamics properly and which helps me to know my learning style. I have used outcomes of these personal development plan and critical examination on learning style to utilise all available resources within my environment and also set up a monitoring approaches for the next reasons; that will help me to revise myself, help me to meet target (goal goals and night out), monitor my progress and use as a level for measuring the useful use of available resources.
Conclusion, the impact of learning styles on personal development may very well be follows; ability to identify personal goals, potential to make good judgement on our talents and weaknesses for development, potential to be conscious of opportunities and threat within our environment, capacity to arrange for personal development, potential to help others to recognise their potentials, ability to accelerate your learning as you carry out activities that best fit your preferred style and helps to avoid repeating faults by starting activities that strengthen other styles. With this step plan grid, I am in a position to develop myself for multitasking jobs and be effective in my own role.
It is a short-term personal development plan since it addresses plan and goals that can be achieved within one year or less. That is my short-term plan and aims:
To acquire good management skills training
To acquire more communication skills training (both writing and verbal)
To acquire good team romance within the organisation
To develop good decision-making skills
In short-term plan, I will move back again to Ireland to keep working for Lidl Ireland GmbH and then make an application for Internal Vacancy Opportunity (Supervisor) that induces staff to move up within the organisation. My MBA level will open up many chances within the company. I am going to like to begin from Supervising but my aim for is Store Director. Within this period as a Supervisor in my Store, I'll use all strategies to acquire the above mentioned posted skills which are extremely easy to attain because of my new role in the stores.
As a supervisor, I am participating in variety of authority trainings which can only help me to acquire good management skills for myself and also useful to the company because I will be able to carry out my obligation effectively. This new role will help me to improve in my own communication skills (both in writing and verbal skills). As being a supervisor, I will be writing information on day to day activities during work shift and also improve my verbal communication skills because the positioning gives me much possibility to communicate with many people (acquaintances and customers). Supervising role can help me to acquire good team marriage skills and capability to make good decisions.
At the end of June 30, 2009, I will be able to meet all my goals and then measure the skills attained if it fulfills the expected level.
This plan is to consolidate on my earlier objectives and successes. It will functions as move over which cover the space in short-term success after critical skills audit. The medium-term personal development plan target more on professional skills and it offers the followings;
Ability to support others
Ability to encourage and motivate personnel/colleagues
Ability to delegate responsibilities and screen it
Ability to analyse information and make good decision and recommendation
Ability to create reports
Within this stage of my plan, I should have the ability to apply for Store Director Position in one of the stores own by Lidl Group after a critical personal skills audit. I will have the ability to display that I am experienced to STICK OUT at evaluation centre and display a good authority skills. My certification and experience and training purchased during my MBA programme will contribute to my success. By the end of this stage, I should be able to demonstrate all the abilities mentioned previously (like the short-term development plan).
The problem of Work Permit will be fixed at the level because the Company will be eager to keep me base on the knowledge have received. Lidl won't prefer to lose any of their staff that has been added as a part of their Assets. The position of Store Administrator also provides chance of me to earn up to salary that is required as a prerequisite to Work Permit.
Target completion: Dec 31, 2011 (this include the short-term development plan)
Since my long-term development plan is to be a Store Manager which will give the chance to achieve the best goals to become the District Director. Prior to the end of 2013 all the goals/targets must be completed with no detriment to organisational goals. I have to be able to achieve the followings;
Display control skills that will be helpful in motivating, leading and supporting colleagues.
Apply good communication skills that enhance decision making, analysing situation and problem, and writing studies for the organisation offering constructive feedback on ideas to team and individual.
Display skills that develop trust and self confidence in the mind of individuals and help me to handle many tasks.
I can make sure that all these goals are review each year with objective brain and check if each goal has been achieved at the expected (aim for completion) date. It will require four years to perform these jobs without becoming too frustrating or distant. I drafted this PDP to be useful as a career plan so that I could use it as an activity for carrying out an in-year examination of my advantages, weaknesses, and development needs.
I are suffering from some useful patterns that will be useful to my future learning which can be clearly spelled out plus they are very simple to be inculcated into my day to day activities to accomplish best results in every my endeavors. These following habits were developed:
Use training activities constructively. After every training course, I am going to try to note answers to the next questions;
What do I learn?
What skills were gained?
What am i going to do differently consequently of this learning?
When am i going to have an possibility to practice these new skills or put my new knowledge into practice?
Keep a Reflective Journal. This diary will help me to think about my activities and feelings when i make an effort to develop and put new skills into practice. It will help me to create proof new skills and approaches at work. This journal shows definite honest of how I feel.
Maintain a collection. I am going to keep all copies of any records that identify my development activities and success such as; certificate s from lessons went to any email or notes from co-workers who display my skills in relevant areas, and my own development plan.
Conclusion, my Personal Development Plan was designed in a manner that it is easy, specific, measurable, possible, realistic and well-timed target. The PDP can be meaningful if objectivity takes its course. I've tried in all honesty in my own PDP never to be confused with unrealistic target but with perseverance, determination and prayer all these goals can be achieved. For this plan to useful, it'll be analyzed frequently to meet present and future needs, and monitoring device was set up.
