Naked Lunch, compiled by William S. Burroughs, was considered, by Time journal, as one of the '100 Best English-language Novels from 1923 to 2005'. It is an acknowledged fact that Burroughs had written Naked Meal while he was still under the influence of what he called 'the sickness'. Quite simply, he was on medication while writing the novel and couldn't even keep in mind writing almost all of it when he previously finished it. Naked Meal is a assortment of very loosely related situations, many of the events happen in a location called Interzone, this place even has its systems of education, religions, politics parties and laws. The story's central identity, considered by many critics, is William Lee, 'who crops up every once in awhile and results in as Burroughs' literary alter-ego. Burroughs was born in St. Louis, Missouri in Feb 5, 1914 into a successful business family. His mother was a descendent of Robert E. Lee, the inventor of the Burroughs adding machine. "As a youngster, " he recalled, "I had been much plagued by nightmares. I remember a nurse showing me that opium provides you nice dreams, and I resolved that I would smoke opium whenever i was raised. " ("William S. Burroughs") Burroughs graduated with a qualification in English books from Harvard School in 1936. Burroughs died in Lawrence on August 2, 1997.
