Contemporary Materials and the Situations That Motivated It

In the last four decades there have been several key people and events that have shaped history and consequently have affected the functions of some of literature's most prolific copy writers. During this time period some of the most powerful speeches, poetry, and fictional protests were written. These types of works of literature were sometimes prepared of necessity for the changing times and spoke out to everything read these people. It all were only available in 1960 when John F. Kennedy conquered Richard Nixon, become one of many youngest males ever to carry the office of president; in the eyes of countless this event started a new period in history.

The moment John Farreneheit. Kennedy was elected this individual inherited the task of overtaking a country that was in the middle of various tragic situations. Kennedy's ideas and dreams were summed up in this famous line from his election conversation when he mentioned "And so , my fellow Americans, inquire not what their country can easily do for you; ask what you can do to your country. " In 1963, when Steve F. Kennedy was only in his third year because president, the young, well liked president was assassinated in Dallas, Arizona. Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn in as chief executive in the wake up of the killing (Davidson 672-675). That same year Matn Luther Ruler Jr. shipped his famous "I have a dream" speech. In this speech he spoke away against racism and pushed towards the future, saying "I have a dream that my 4 little children will certainly one day live in a nation where they do not be judged by the color of their skin area but by the content of their character. " Two years after in 1965 Leader Johnson made a decision that afflicted the United States and everything U. S. citizens more than any other function during that time. He officially sent U. S. troops into Vietnam, beginning the massacre referred to as Vietnam Conflict. (Karnow)

During the Vietnam War in the United States young men and women started to protest mainly against the war, but also up against the Establishmentthe ideals, tradition, and views with their parents. Individuals who rejected the Establishment started to be hippies, dropping out of society to live together in communes. "Make love, certainly not war, " they required and "never trust anyone over thirty. " Initially in culture, drug employ became popular and young adults experimented with new freedoms.
